- Q: What is light made of??
- Light is a weird phenomenon. The current understanding is light is a a transmission of energy in packets called photons. Here's the bizarre part, ligtht can act like a particle that you can shoot when it wants to AND it can act like a wave like a sound wave or a ripple in a pond. Beyond that, it gets too complicated for me. If you want to think of it basically, think of light as energy in a visible form.

- Well, not exactly. Light is both wave and particles. The wave is an EM wave and the particle is the photon. The photon is the same for all light, but the wave frequency differs. I'm not sure what you mean by destroy. To physically destroy a picture, however, you'll need a very very bright light, bright enough to burn the picture. An industrial laser would do.

- Small amounts, yes. Fluorescent lights work by running an electric charge through a glass tube, the excited electrons emit energy as UV light. The tube is filled with particular gases and the inner surface of the tube is coated in various phosphors and other chemicals. As the UV light hits these gases and phosphors, the light is converted into longer wavelength (lower energy) light which we see as visible light. You will sometimes see fluorescent lights with no powder coating, these are used for UV sterilisers both for medical and aquarium/pond purposes.
