- Q: where can i purchase bathroom vanities other then home depot and lowes?
- Ktichen and bath stores are the obvious.
- Q: so you know those boxed sink w/ vanitie that the lowes and Home depot sells. Most of the standard ones are either white or a light oak. Has anyone ever painted or stained the oak one a different color to match their bathroom a little better. Like a darker cherry vs. the light oak that you buy it as ?Was wondering if this could be done, or a good idea, would I have to prime it first, I mean it is wood, it should be able to absorb and accept a good quality wood stain, right ?
- Most of the pre fab cabinetry sold at the big box stores are usually veneered MDF. Meaning you probably won't be able to stain the cabinet. You may be able to paint the cabinet.

- Q: I want to remodel my bathroom, it's the original 1964 bathroom. Anyway, I am having a hard time finding a 54 inch vanity, thats how big the old vanity is and the space. Does anyone know where I could find one at a reasonable price? Thanks
- You could order a custom size. But the easy solution is to get a standard size for the vanity sink base (VSB) like a 36. Then you could put a VDB18 next to it- vanity drawer bank 18' wide- and you'd havve 54, and plenty of storage and function (and an off center sink, which I personally would like but I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't...) Or a VSB30 and a 12 on each side, or whatever combination fits your style. Either a cabinet shop or even somewhere like Home Depot can help you plan it in standard sizes. That way, you may get stock items, which is faster, but you definitely avoid the modification upcharges for special sized and stuff. Also a note. If your plumbing and stuff allows it, you might consider regular kitchen cabinets. A lot of our customers prefer 36' height (standard kitchen) in the bathroom instead of the OKorderr vanity height. I'm only 5'6' and I don't like regular short vanities! And you might save money there, as they might stock more kitchen sizes than vanity sizes.
- Q: We are remodeling our bathroom, and I made a vanity out of an antique dresser, we are looking for unique lighting for above the mirror, any suggestions?
- Look in the phone book for Salvage. (On the net type in architecture Salvage)..you maybe able to find something different also check out local auctions. You would be shocked at what you may find. would suggest keeping in the year and style of the antique dresser....as for what type of lights I would suggest you think of what can be turned into lights (Milk glass, washing bowls...can have gas light looking wall lights. Frosted glass lights to give it a older feeling. You can make a old Metal heating grate light sconce (Buy old metal heating grates, then solder on a u shape clap...on top place a light socket. easy and rather inexpensive). Good luck with it...the thinking outside the box you did with the vanity i am sure will lead you to great light solution. :)

- I would tile a few inches under the vanity perhaps 1 full tile it gives both an even surface, no cutting tiles and a few $'s saved////... the down fall would be if vanity ever needs changed you have to refinish the tiles underneath if the size changed
- Q: I recently purchased an expensive bathroom vanity with a marble top. I was told the marble was sealed and I didnt have to do anything to it. But now when water splashes on it and I wipe it it leaves a dark spot that goes away after about an hour or so. The weird thing is the marks do go away but they dont go away fully when I wipe them.

- i just finished remodeling my master bathroom, and i went with an autumn maple vanity and golden sand granite double countertop with an undermounted sink. it looks beautiful. if you are going to paint the vanity, i definitely wouldn't go black. if it is a smaller space(less than 35 square feet) i would lean toward the white. i got away with the darker because i had travertine floors, yellowish walls, and a skylight with plenty of vanity and recessed lighting.
