Q: I live in NYC and just purchased an apartment this summerI just discovered that this apartment has no insulation at all on the outside wallLooking for advise on what kind of insulation is bestI only have 2quot; between the exterior brick wall and drywall.- fiberglass batts : remove drywall add fiberglass batts and drywall- form insulation : remove drywall add form insulation and add drywall- any other options?In my research I found that foam is better and has a better R value and last longerI am not sure what quot;longerquot; meansI need it to last for 10yrs maximum as I don't plan to live here foreverIs the price difference that big between both the above methods of insulation (they say form insultaion is 2 times more?)Thanks a lot for your help
You would have to find out which of the materials has the smallest thermal expansion coefficient.
Q: Hey there, I'm trying to insulate my barn and I've got some answers to ask about these DIY foam insulation kitsI've read online that DIY foam insulation kits are very popular now and are actually way cheaper but haven't quite found a site that's offering good informationCould anyone please suggest a site that's got good information on DIY foam insulation kits ?

Q: Hi, I first noticed I had carpet beetles about a month and a half agoI was finding some live beetles strolling around in my room and my closet, as well as dead ones near baseboardsI had no idea what they were, but then looked them up and it made perfect sense,seeing as though I frequently have animals in my room.Soon I was seeing a few larvae, one in my bed (yuck!) and another couple on a blanket that was on my floor (my room is not the cleanest, but I'm a college student, that's how its supposed to be!!)So, I inspected and removed every cloth or natural-fiber item from my room, vaccumed the entire room and closet, moved all the furniture to the center of the room and sprayed for them using Bayer Indoor/Outdoor Home Pest spray.After two days, I re-vaccumed,moved back in, and was happy to find no hint of any moreToday, however, I have found 8 dead beetles and seen one larvaThe spray says that it gives you protection for 12 months, but apparently notWhat should I do next??
if the beetles were in their pupa stage at time of treatment they would not of been effected by your treatment until they emerged and came in contact with the insecticide then they would of died.or the source may be coming from the attic where once again they will not die until they come into contact with the insecticide.the insecticide is doing what it is supposed to do anything made from furfeathersilk.wool can be the sourceWhat ever the lowest setting on a dryer that won't damage the clothing is more than enough heat to clean the clothing.after cleaning store in air tight containers.zipper bags and totes with snap up handles are not air tight Use your spray along the baseboards and up the corners of the room and closet.check between the mattress and box springs for insects

Q: Ceramic fiber spray and thrown silk floss, which is better
Ji'nan Huolong thermal ceramics limited liability company to help you analyze: thrown silk and spray cotton, which is better? Which process is more suitable for producing carpets? Fire dragon energy saving from the technical point of view is as follows:1, fiber diameter: rejection fiber more coarse, rejection filament fiber is generally 3.0-5.0 mu m, spinneret fiber is generally 2.0-3.0 mu m;2, the length of fiber yarn: rejection fiber longer, the rejection of silk fiber is generally 150-250mm, spinneret fiber is generally 100-200mm;3, the coefficient of thermal conductivity: spray cotton fiber is lower than that of the thrown silk;4, the tensile and flexural strength: thrown silk because fiber thicker than that of spraying cotton;
Q: So I don't own too many clothes as a guy, but it really annoys me when my shirts fade, get holes, thin, deform, and shrinkI'm going to get new clothes soon, and I don't want them to mess up like all my other clothesI wash shirts after I wear them once, and rarely wear them multiple times without washing because they smellAnd a lot of my hoodies eventually look like they were played with a dog.the fabric appears more rough and warn outHelp?

Q: Hello I'm finishing my atticI have small window dormers on the front of the atticThese were constructed such that I only have a cavity depth of 1 1/2quot;That is my only option for depth as I would block the window if I make them any deeperShould I put in R13 and compress it against the sheetrock, or I was thinking of cutting Polystyrene between each oneWhich would give me the best R-Value?
Your best bet would be a blown on foam insulationIt will expand to fill the cavities and give you the highest R and sealingAs a close second choice I would use the sheet styrofoam and seal the edges with a minimal expanding foamDon't compress the fiberglass into the cavity as it will greatly reduce the R value and be the least effective.
