- Q:There's a huge construction site (buildings being torn down) that I drive by on my way to work, and it's full of various heavy equipment. I'm fascinated by the excavators, because they remind me of giant, toothy quot;mouthsquot; on the end of long arms. It's also interesting to see how precisely they can chomp, lift and/or move things with their quot;jawsquot;. (I know, they're actually called buckets, heads and/or attachments, but I like the metaphor of mouths and jaws. *grin*)I was just curious how easy or difficult excavators are to operate? I'm guessing they're more challenging than some pieces of construction equipment. Hopefully at least some folks here have experience using them. Thanks and have a great weekend! :)
- wow....you sure have an obsession starting there...lol anyway, it's not too hard to get the basics down, how to move the different mechanisms, but you need to have lots of practice before you do anything that requires precision. One wrong move and all that horsepower can make big damage! And they're like most pieces of heavy equipment...they're very challenging to operate well. I have some experience pipelining, so I have seen lots of operators. Most have to have years of experience before they're really good. Its tough to get someone to show you how if you're not being paid....you can rent tiny ones at some rental places if you really want to give it a try! pick a wide open space, and remember, you have to have the ground searched for buried pipelines, electrical lines, phone, water and sewer, etc before you dig.
- Q:We're in Western PA, and have a steel 16X 32' inground pool with a vinyl liner that's about 16 years old. Between replacing the liner, water under the liner, broken heater, movement of the concrete surrounding the pool, replacing the electrical box, the cost of opening and closing the pool, chemicals, fencing repairs, etc. it's a bottomless money pit. I'd like to get a price for having the whole thing just taken out and going back to grass. A realtor friend said that the pool doesn't add much value, especially with utility prices going higher. (Our town has also built a great community pool). Our pool guy and the pool store say they don't know who removes pools. Any suggestions?
- Check your local newspaper ads for contractors in your area. Some specialize in pool installation/removal. Make some calls and be sure to get references and see jobs that they have done. Talk to those people that have used the contractor that you may use. 'Word of mouth' is better than any advertisement.
- Q:I'm an engineer. I was employed at a rather large company that manufactures heavy duty off road vehicles, (Wheel Loaders and Excavators and such). Recently, I've lost my job because the quot;higher upsquot; in my company decided to cut costs. They hired an engineer from India to replace me at a fraction of the cost of my wage. I'm middle class and when I see these people with six figure incomes it makes me question their true worth? They will argue that it's actually positive for our the company and our ecomony, but as I sit here typing this, (unemployed), I wonder....who are the ones benefitting? I am unemployed. I don't build bulldozers any longer but they are still being built. These bulldozers clear the land for the house that I can no longer afford. The carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc. don't have a job because the house was never built. They don't have to buy tools anymore either. The trucks that deliver those tools will be parked. I wish I could type more, but you get the point!
- Hi, okorder
- Q:Where can I find reviews and opinions online for CAT Excavator
- Most Helpful Customer Reviews 2.0 out of 5 stars It LOOKS good, but . . . , November 19, 2007 By Amber Fitzpatrick - See all my reviews (REAL NAME) Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars the levers are really only for lifting up the hollow, weightless plastics rocks that come with it. If you want to do any REAL digging (and who doesn't?), you have to go manual. A huge disappointment for my poor 3 yo who had visions of completely digging up my garden. It's all plastic, and I'll be interested to see how long it really lasts. It would be okay if it was just going to be an inside toy, but what's the point of having construction equipment if you can't play with it in the dirt? And the noise. It's REALLY loud. My advice is to spend your money on something sturdier that doesn't have all the lights and sounds and mechanical actions. 5.0 out of 5 stars my son loves this, July 14, 2007 By T. Hall Realtor mom of 6 (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME) Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars My 6 year old boy saved up his money and ordered this excavator (with my help on the ordering part). I really thought that 18 inches would make it slightly larger than a barbie doll. Boy was he thrilled when it came in a great big ol' box. When he opened it, it got even better. He has had many hours of fun with this thing, loading and unloading stuff. It was a great buy!
- Q:...what the biggest tool you have at your house?
- A table saw or a router? Really, my dad LOVES wood working/building so he has all these tools in our garage.
- Q:I'm doing a landscape assignment that includes a pool and i need to know a cheap price for a pool, preferabley under ground and around the size of 4x8m? And also the site where you got the info from, thankyou!
- you will get the answer from google
- Q:my fiberglass pool popped out the ground and now I need to reset it. I was hoping someone could tell me if a bobcat 337 can do the job. I can't get anything bigger without doing some major work.the pool is 40x15 fiberglass poolthanks for any suggestions
- A crane would be best to raise and re-set this pool safely. A skilled crane operator can safely raise, move, and reset this pool safely with no danger of damaging fiberglass or injuring others. This pool will need to be rigged properly or it can break in half under its own weight. A bobcat might lift the pool but mobility will be a problem.
- Q:Normally Excavators are used for digging earth. But sometimes the operators use the bucket to lift materials .
- Typically no. It's a matter of safety. The object being carried can spill out of the bucket and injure someone. For heavy loads you use a forklift and the objects should be securely held on a pallet. For odd shaped objects a sling may be used but it must be inspected for nicks and tears prior to every use.
- Q:Because the site shut down driver and administrator home home is a little far a few days ago the site owner call position in parking to remove the excavator digging machine took the key key to call up and now feel a bit uneasy to hear them say a number of product type, engine number can be found in no digging machine just opened Baidu know not the first thank you prawns from the site
- Komatsu with "Kang Chashi" global positioning system, can accurately locate the position of the machine (track), fuel consumption, work status, work quantity, the amount of fuel (to prevent without permission to put the oil, water temperature, oil temperature).
