- If you are wanting to use wheel spacers I would recommend you stay far away from them, unless you really know what your doing. I have heard a few horror stories about those things. - Changing the offset also changes the center line for alignment. Sure, you can re-align to factory specs, but you still can't change the fact that the weight is now riding off center on the spindle. That will cause more rapid bearing wear. It's a bad bad idea. Just because other people do it, doesn't mean it's safe.

- no they are not universal, and there are so many variables beyond the amount of holes. 5 lug ford uses 1/2 inch studs, Chevy 7/16 studs, corolla metric studs, also the pattern (example) ford 4 1/2 on center, Chevy 4 on center, the center hole that sets on a lip to keep center is different diameter, and last but not least the off set may be off too much and rub the inner or outer tire well. stay with what is correct to your car and be safe
