Q: well my work has a huge 10,000 pound piece of machinery...and i know people can donate cars and boats and what not as a tax write off so, where could we donate this big hunk of machinery?
Call a metal recycling place. They would be happy to come get it and turn it into scrap. They would even pay you for it.
Q: What effect did this have?
I think Thoreau, who espoused the need for simplicity, was trying to show that an industrialized society enslaves man more than it frees man. Machines that are supposed to make our lives simpler can, in actuality, make it more complicated. For instance: cars. Cars are supposed to make getting from point A to point B easier. However, with the advent of the automobile society, point B can now be much farther away from point A than in the past. However, if your car breaks down, that is a problem in itself, because you must now repair the machine that is supposed to make life easier. On top of this, point B is now farther away from point A than in the past when there were no cars; so now point B is harder to get to because the machine that made it simpler to get to point B is out of service. Therefore, in my opinion, Thoreau used the metaphor of machinery to show how industrialization further complicates and worsens the quality of life, as opposed to making it easier.
Q: What is an embedded device, and what sorts of office machinery have them?
A device that has a computer in it (microwave oven, car, mp3 player) is an embedded device. Office machinery? Printers, copiers, alarms (fire, burglar). If you have to use a swipe card to punch in or open doors, there's a computer behind that (it may be embedded, it may be just a PC.) Your phone system almost definitely has at least one embedded computer.
Q: all...not amm...ALL MACHINERY. sorry.
Nope. That would make imports even cheaper than they are now. He can make a lot of jobs by doing things like how large certain companies, like banks and insurance companies can be which will increase competition and decrease efficiency which will create more jobs. It will lead to higher prices though. I lost a good job at a bank when they got bought out by a bigger bank.
Q: i need to focus on the movement of machines and film them. such as car factories with arm robots, production lines, moving conveyabelt, anything relating to machines!!! please help.
use a robot to hold the camera and move the camera when the robot being filmed is moving.
Q: Write 3 machines you hate the most and give reasons why?!!!thanks!(not cars, others)
1.the vacuum cleaner or whatever it's name is. it's noisy. 2.the alarm clock. it's noisy. 3.the roller coaster. i'm scared of it and i always feel like a crybaby when everyone rides and they tell me to join and i have to remind them that i'm afraid of heights.
Q: what are the methods to depreciate machineries ?
In addition to the above you can depreciate based on usage, either in hours or another appropriate form of measurement such as widgets processed. Cars can be depreciated based on miles driven.
Q: kinda thinking mills, maybe a conveyor belt... and i'm curious about making a steam engine (running on liquid nitrogen).thoughts? some ww2 guy wanted to build an aircraft carrier out of pykrete (ice 14% sawdust)
try a hotel ;-). If you live in or are going to a cold climate, an ice house could be useful. You could give it power with the steam engine, and use the electricity to run a small heater, xbox, and other necessities. (i don't think a fridge would be necessary) I heard some dude actually made a working ice house like that, but it ran on solar power.
Q: Hi. I'm trying to do some research for my Dad on HANCOCK BIG machinery. I can not find one single website supporting this. It's almost like they never even built these machines. However, I KNOW they did!! My father has a Hancock Pan sitting in his yard. Anyway, if you know ANYTHING about these machines........PLEASE send me some info. Generally, I'm looking for a selling price. It's an OLDIE!! We think it's dated from the early 70's. Thank you to anyone who can help.
