- Q: I need to be able to charge a 2v 7amp battery with a solar panel. I understand that the charge controller will keep the battery from over charging/discharging, but what I don't understand is the amps. The solar panel is rated at 5watts.The solar panel comes with a 2v 3amp charge controller but will I need to buy a 7amp charge controller and replace it with that for my battery pack? Please explain. Thanks in advance.
- If it is a charge controller that is wired between the panel and the battery only, then a 3A rating is ample. The controller only has to handle the maximum current that the solar panel can output. The panel will have (or needs to have) an open-circuit voltage that is greater than about 4V in order to actually charge the battery, whose terminal voltage will rise above 2V as it charges. The panel's open circuit output voltage typically is about 7V. The 5W rating is at the maximum power point under the illumination of standard sun and at a specified temperature. That maximum power point probably is around 4V, which means the panel will deliver the following amperage to charge the battery: I = P/V = 5W/4V = 0.36A Since 0.36A is well below the 3A rating of the controller, the controller will not be overloaded when charging the battery. Some charge controllers also have terminals for connecting the load that you want to power. If that's the case, then the controller also needs to be rated to handle that load amperage or higher. If you were to connect a 6A load, then you would like to have say a 0A controller. Hope that helps.
- Q: Can solar panels power a whole house?
- Yes, solar panels can power a whole house depending on the size of the solar panel system, the energy requirements of the house, and the amount of sunlight available in the area. A properly sized solar panel system can generate enough electricity to meet the needs of a typical household, reducing or even eliminating the reliance on the traditional power grid.
- Q: How do solar panels affect insurance premiums?
- Solar panels can have a positive impact on insurance premiums. Installing solar panels may increase the value of a property, which could lead to higher insurance coverage limits. However, the overall effect on premiums can vary depending on factors such as the location, type of solar panels, and the insurer's policies. Some insurers offer discounts or incentives for homeowners with solar panels, while others may charge higher premiums due to the increased replacement costs. It is advisable to consult with insurance providers to understand how solar panels specifically affect premiums in individual cases.
- Q: can a small solar panel be charged with lamps?
- yes, although charged is the wrong term. But for every 00 watts you put into the lamps, you will get well less than 0 watts out of the solar array. Well less. .
- Q: How much electricity does a solar panel produce?
- The amount of electricity a solar panel produces depends on several factors, including the size of the panel, its efficiency, the amount of sunlight it receives, and its location. On average, a standard residential solar panel can produce anywhere from 250 to 400 watts of electricity per hour under optimal conditions.
- Q: can u use a light bulb instead of the sun to power a solar panel
- Solar Powered Light Bulbs
- Q: What is the difference between Photovoltaic Panels and Solar Panels?
- Dear friend, Photovoltaic Panels and Solar Panels are the same products.
- Q: How much energy can a solar panel produce?
- The amount of energy a solar panel can produce depends on several factors, including its size, efficiency, and location. On average, a residential solar panel system can generate anywhere from 10 to 20 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per square meter per day. However, this can vary significantly based on sunlight availability, panel orientation, and weather conditions.
- Q: I need a list of worldwide solar panel manufactures from china, US, Spain, Germany, Japan etc...Can any one direct ne to such place?I rather it will also contain comparison of parameters like efficiacy, quality etc and to be divedied by country of manufacturing.Thank you
- Actually Ofir, it is much easier and less expensive than you might believe. What you need is a magazine, like, Solar Today. There is only one that I am familiar with that gets into the nuts and bolts of solar panel manufacturers, installation, and other types of renewable energy. It's called, Home Power Magazine. We have a home that has been powered by the wind and sun for the last 0 years or so, and most of our initial information came from Home Power, and afterward, from many of the sources that they have in their articles. Every few issures, they take an item connected to renewable energy, such as an inverter, wind turbine, water turbine, or solar panel, and list all the different models that are available. They are broken down by manufacturer, and include specifications like power output, range of voltages, efficiency, materials, and even where they are manufactured. If you subscribe online for one year, the cost is around $25 USD, you will have access to all the previous issues that are archived on their website. You can use their search engine to locate an article listing all the solar panels, they did one a year or so ago with all the information you are looking for. Despite what you might be hearing, solar power usage is growing at an incredible rate. In the US alone, there are over 00,000 homes and businesses operating some level of solar power right now, that's good news. As far as different countries using different requirements, most all of the manufacturers today are selling their products to most countries worldwide, they are designed to meet requirements for almost anyplace you might use them. Check the magazine out today, you might learn more than you were originally looking for. I will include their link below, and some other good sources for information. You can google any one of them to find their website. Good luck, and take care...Rudydoo
- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of heatwaves?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of heatwaves. In fact, solar panels often perform better in hot temperatures as they rely on sunlight, not heat, to generate electricity. However, it is important to ensure proper installation and maintenance to mitigate any potential heat-related issues and optimize their performance in such conditions.
