Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidise or become rancid), odours and flavours, moistness, and germs, it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging. The purpose of aluminium is to make long-life packs (aseptic processing|aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods, which allows storing without refrigeration. Aluminium foil containers and trays are used to bake pies and to pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life pet foods.

Aluminium foil is widely sold into the consumer market, often in rolls of 500 mm (20 in) width and several metres in length. It is used for wrapping food in order to preserve it, for example, when storing leftover food in a refrigerator (where it serves the additional purpose of preventing odour exchange), when taking sandwiches on a journey, or when selling some kinds of take-away or fast food. Tex-Mex restaurants in the United States, for example, typically provide take-away burritos wrapped in aluminium foil.

Aluminium foils thicker than 25 µm (1 mil) are impermeable to oxygen and water. Foils thinner than this become slightly permeable due to minute pinholes caused by the production process.

Aluminium foil has a shiny side and a matte side. The shiny side is produced when the aluminium is rolled during the final pass. It is difficult to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, therefore, for the final pass, two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollers. When the sheets are later separated, the inside surface is dull, and the outside surface is shiny. This difference in the finish has led to the perception that favouring a side has an effect when cooking. While many believe that the different properties keep heat out when wrapped with the shiny finish facing out, and keep heat in with the shiny finish facing inwards, the actual difference is imperceptible without instrumentation. The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80%.

Q:what are the random uses of aluminum foil other than in kitchen?
I remember, a ball of aluminum foil in your dryer to help reduce staticInstead of dryer sheets during laundryBut also, it can help to: - Sharpen scissors just by cutting, few times :), some foil - Clean cast iron pots and pans - Prevent rust on steel wool pads(wrap in foil and store in freezer) - Wrap foil on cooktop stove drip pan, and will be easy to clean spill over
Q:What's the highest temperature of aluminum foil paper?
If not considering the open fire, it is no problem that the temperature of using the electric oven exceeding 300 degree and the producing process has anneal process.the temperature has exceeded 400 degree.
Q:looking for a spare rib recipe with apple cider from ron hazelton?
in my experience sprayed on foam insulation works great for your situation, but is a little priceyfor a more affordable option buy batt insulation (pink panther type) it will say on it how thick it ismeasure the distance from the underside of your floor to the bottom of the floor joistbuy the appropriate size and staple upthen cover with either the foam insulation you suggested (use button cap nails sold at local hard ware store 1 1/2 is good enough but the longer the nail the better it will hold it on due to wind under your house) or they sell a thicker foam commonly used on roofs or in cement slabs which will offer a little more insulation value (called R-value) be careful to buy the right sized insulationa lot of people are tempted to buy thicker than they need and stuff it in real tightthis actually lowers the R-value of the insulation and gives them less insulation value than the right size would havefiberglass insulation works by trapping air inside its fiberglass strandsthis air slows down the hot or cold from outside because that air has to change the temperature of the trapped air before its temperature change can creep into the houseso if you stuff it tight the fiberglass gets all mashed up leading to less trapped air and a lower barrier against outside temperaturesorry didn't mean to get discovery channel on you but i thought you should know ) or if you don't want to spend the money on the insulation boards you can just add the wire to help hold up the batts of insulationthe batts alone should help a lot, but the other would give you morejust so you know the R-value 3 1/2 thick 15-19 ( fits standard 2x4 wood thickness) 5 1/2 thick 21 (fits standard 2x6 wood thickness) 9 1/2 thick 30 (fits standard 2x10 wood thickness) 12 thick 38 (fits standard 2x12 wood thickness)
Q:As a mechanical automation's engineer that knows little about AC units I would guess sense you cant solder aluminium that you epoxy it but what do I knowAs an engineer the simplest things blow over my headI can tell you the melting point of osmium and how many isatopes there are in molybdenum but tying a shoe or using a microwave oven I can't handle
NoDue to the great difference in melting temperatures, soldering Cu onto Al is not practicalBoth materials need to melt, mix and solidify without movement to form a crystalline boundary structure that can hold together under the pressure the tubing needs to containIt might work if you could keep the molten Cu in place as the Al cooled down to the Cu melting temperature, such as repairing a crack in the bottom of an aluminum bowl where the copper can be kept in place and immobile during coolingRepairing a tube won't work because the Cu will stay molten and roll off the Al tube as it cools from its much higher temperatureYou should just replace the tube.
Q:Hey everyone I am doing this question for a friend who is struggling with the internet at the moment and cannot access it (Some sort of phone line issue) and bt are trying to fix it.AnywayMy friend has just bought a young female cat they have named Kara Melody , she is a lovely cat with a sweet temperament but she is eating my friends fiance's printer paper , she just paws it out of the printer and then either rips it with her teeth or claws it apartshe is properly fed with the correct cat food for her age and always has water and has other cat toys to play with.So is there any idea's that i could pass back to them to stop her eating or clawing the paper or is it something that they need to take her to the vet for professional advice.
i might decide to make it somewhat sparkling that there's no connection between something categorized as Demonic, Evil or the paintings of devil, with WitchcraftWitchcraft The Craft of the cleverBlessed Be)O(

Q:Why does my Sterling Silver Ring leave a green ring around my finger and what can I do about it?
He probably had simple aluminum foil with a pinholeResearch Camera Obscura
Q:I have ran into a road block doing some of my lab equationsThe lab was to determine the Atomic mass of AluminumI need to calculate the number of moles of HCl used, by using Ideal Gas Law,pV nRTHowever, I need to find the pressure of the HCl first, so I subtract the water pressure from the atmospheric pressureWater temp was 25K which gives me 3.1690 P/kPa, and the Atmospheric Pressure was 751mm Hg which converts to 100.125kPaP(H2) P(atm) - P(H20) This is where I ran into my problem of subtracting 100.125kPa from 3.1690P/kPa, they are different unitsPlease helpThanks to those who reply.
My thought would be to get really nice business cards with your logo and website or other info on the front, and care info on the backUse a hole punch in one corner and attach them with coordinating yarn or ribbon.
Q:besides laminating, pressurization through between newspaper in a bookFor the first and second 4 leaf I found, I put it in a pile of bookThe third one I put in a seran wrap + aluminum foil.
I would put it in a press and seal or in a photo album with the plastic!!
