- When I made afghans, I would sew the crocheted squares together using the same yarn and a big plastic needleYou just lay the squares side by side and whip stitch them together.an over and under sort of stitch You would start from the back side of one square, bring the needle and yarn through an opening, and go directly across the front edge of the next oneTake the needle through the front of the other square and then the next stitch starts from the first square slightly lower than the original stitchDon't tie knots in the yarnLeave a tail and weave that through some of the stitching to keep it in place You could probably look up whip stitch and get a better description of how to do it.
