- I can only speak for myself, but I use cell phones a lot. I am deaf. I do not talk on the phone at all, but I text all of the time. There are some cell phones, like mine, that are designed with a special feature that makes them compatible with many types of hearing aids. You don't have to look too far to find a new cell phone with this feature; my phone is a Samsung Tracfone, and it is HAC. (Hearing Aid Compatible) There are other phones that are specially designed for people with other disabilities. Like, for example, there are phones that are voice activated, or they have bigger buttons and displays. These features can be especially helpful for people with disabilities.
