Q: Garage door lock stuck in locked position?: This idea seems to have several flaws. First, nobody can be in the air tight room for more then the time it takes to use up the oxygen in the room. Second, the change in air pressure would be pretty small, so you'd either get lots of false trips or it wouldn't trip when you wanted it to. It would be better to use a sensor that used heat rise. Third, what would a person do if they were in the room when a fire broke out? They would die from the lack of oxygen (faster then in the first case). And finally, since this room is of limited space, it will burn off the oxygen in the room during the fire and snuff itself out even if you don't evacuate the remaining air in the room. And if you haven't done anything but take the oxygen out of the room, the fire would likely restart when you vent air back into the room.

Q: Basically when my alarm goes off, I wake up in a haze, but am not aware enough to know I have to actually GET UP and go to work.Anyone have any tricks for actually getting up when the alarm goes off?: John, you're going to need to brake out some concrete around the stack to allow the bottom no-hub coupling to be partially below the slab. To make the cut on the cast iron below the slab, means you are going to need to brake out the entire 4 of concrete about 12 square (or round), remove the gravel and some dirt, just to get the tools in there to cut it. As a professional, I personally would just brake it out to make the connection below the slab, but it's your house and your call. The B-dry system typically consists of waterproofing panels on the walls and interior drain tile and a sump pump. So damaging the underslab drain tile is possible, but is also easily repaired if damaged. Good luck with the project

Q: An accidential fire alarm was triggered at work and when I got out of the building I placed a call to 911. (Like the sign on the outside of the building says) 911 says its a false alarm bt they have to send the fd anyways. I tell my boss and when get back from lunch he says I'm being officially repromanded bcuse the fire department had to do an inspection that closed the building down for about 45 minutes. He stated that the floor marshal decides if the fire department or 911 needs to know.Can they actually legally repromand me?Can: They sure do. Check your local hardware store or home improvement center. I have a couple of these in my house. They make plastic and copper versions, but I am assuming you would go with the plastic. These can be used to go from a metal (copper) pipe in the wall to plastic. Hope this helps.
