- I'm just curious why you're paying to have it done. Small engine carbs are easy, you can practically make one from pipe fittings. They're super easy to take apart, clean everything out, put everything back together again. I just got a nearly-new Honda mower for the low low price of $10 because the previous owner couldn't get it to start. One $4.00 can of carb cleaner, one set of metric sockets, one teenaged son and one hour later, I've had a pleasant afternoon and my kid is off mowing the yard with a new mower. Can't keep it running, hmm? Is there a fuel shutoff? You did remember to open that, right? I only ask because I've had the headslap moment vis-a-vis the fuel shutoff more than once.

- Q: I was cooking earlier and my smoke detectors went off. I live in an apartment complex and have three alarms (one in the hallway, and one in each bedroom). My husband had to take the one in the hall and one of the alarms in a bedroom off and unplug the alarm completely. The one in the other bedroom at that time was not going off so he left it up. Yet, that alarm is blinking rapidly a green light. An hour or so later we tried to plug in the other two alarms, yet they won't stop going off once attached by a/c power. - Best answer, the batteries are low and need to be replace. I have a hard wire system with battery back-up. I replace the battery the the alarm stop chirping. I have (4) units in my townhouse. Just save $21.00 an hour for Handyman services.

- if im putting 2 steel pipe fittings together i always use pipe tape or dope. but if im thredding brass in to steel or the other way around some times i do and some times i dont. i have replaced lots of break air lines on trucks and i try to use tape or dope but some times i dont if its a hurry thing. some times im laying under trucks in the slush and snow when we have a plow truck blow a parking break line and in thoes siutwations pipe tape or dope is the last thing on my mind. im a mechanic at a highway deparment and some times we do what we gotta do when wer in a rush. as long as the lines you replaced did not leek after you wer done you are fine. threding plain brass in to a fitting and you get it tight enough it wont leek and im shure their was still some pipe tape or dope residue in the fitting you put the brass fitting in to. your wer right as long as it did not leek. if they fire you over this that is bs. good luck

- It's called PVC Cement, available at almost any hardware store, from multiple manufacturers. It has an aggressive solvent that partially dissolves the PVC pipe, creating close to a welded joint. Do not use anything but PVC cement.

- once it has been contaminated with the water from the leak it can be very frustrating. you must remove the water from the line before you try to resolder. clean male and female very good,steel wool or sandpaper,reflux and resolder. hope some plumber can be of more help,
