Q:Hello, i want to ask whether if you could make an improvised version of solar panel made from an old CD or DVD?Is it possible or not? Please give me steps on how to make one if you know(put aside the one you see on quot;ehow: How to Make a Solar Panel From CDswhich says a bit confusing for me :( )Why not?
A solar electric panel? No. Solar electric cells, or more properly photovoltiac (PV) cells, are made from specially prepared (doped) wafers of silicon, much like transistors and diodes. CDs and DVDs are made from plastic plated with aluminum. They don't have anything to do with each other. Of course you can make a reflector out of CDs or DVDs, and you could use a bunch of them to focus sunlight on a water tank or something - this is called solar thermal generation. (That's what that ehow page is talking about, not generating electricity.) But there are much better things to use for mirrors.
Q:Also, where can solar panels be purchased in the Binghamton/Liberty/Jeffersonville area? Home Depot has some on their website I would like to see them in a store before purchasing or ordering them.
Enacted okorder Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 09/9/20
Q:Hi, I want to put some solar light in my yard, and wondering if a 00w solar panel could work for a few 3w dc lights....do i need a battery so they run at night, if so how many lights do u think i can run/ also i see elading solar light
You can't really judge the watts for solar lighting the same way you could for dc lighting. This is because of several factors The lights that you showed ARE NOT high quality lights and furthermore; they are not a well-known brand. Also, I would be suspicious of any store that offers lights for less than half of what other stores do. They are dumping the merchandise, which means it could have been sitting around for a while. MAXSA Innovations makes good solar lamps, so does Solar Goes Green. As the other responder wrote, you are better off using dedicated solar spot lights or floodlights than trying to integrate a solar panel into regular solar lights. A 00 Watt solar panel is pretty strong, and you also would need a battery. Unless you know how to rig up the system with appropriate controllers to make sure too much energy doesn't get into the rechargeable battery (lithium ion or NiMH), you take a risk on having the whole system fry out.
Q:What is a good sight that I could go to about installing solar panels and all of the considerations of it?
Go okorder This is the web site for the magazine Homepower. You should probably get a copy of the magazine and have a look (there is a Free Sample Issue botton on the site). It contains articles about real people and their solar collectors. It usually details what kind of system they have and provides an illustration of the different parts. These articles and illustrations are very helpful to people who are new to the topic. They also have articles on things are far ranging as the national electrical codes for solar electric panels, building your own electric car and solar ovens for cooking. Check the site out and then request a free magazine.
Q:Can solar panels be used for charging electric vehicles?
Yes, solar panels can be used for charging electric vehicles. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can be used to charge the batteries of electric vehicles through a charging station or directly through a solar-powered carport. This provides a sustainable and renewable source of energy for electric vehicle charging.
Q:The ancients used skylights for light in lieu of electricity. Light was used for drying, even cooking foods and drying clothes. Solar clocks/sun dials were once popular but now we have battery operated clocks. Where have we tapped into any of these resources since the outdated solar clothes drier nicknamed the 'clothes line'?
As your question notes, there are other ways to derive power from solar energy other than just using solar panels. One such way that has grown rapidly in recent years, is solar thermal generation. Solar-thermal uses mirrors to collect sunlight and concentrate it at point to generate intense heat. This heat is used -- just as in traditional fossil fuel plants -- to boil a fluid, thereby creating steam pressure, which drives a turbine that generates electricity. Solar thermal has some advantages over traditional solar panels. It's collectors (i.e. mirrors) are cheaper to manufacture than solar panels and last longer.
Q:i took some solar yard lights apart and put them together in a series. i was told if you take AMPS times VOLTS = WATTS. do you test it with ac volt or dc volts? I tested mine with dc volts and got 4 volts in good sun and had my meter set on Ma or milliamps and got .83 which i am asuming that is .83 of one amp now i took those and multiplied .83 times 4 volts to = 34.03 watts. Is this large enough to charge a car battery in a day? And doese it make a difference for amps on how fast it charges or watts. i also was looking around and found 30 watt panels but had higher amps. I am very interested in building solar panels but i realize i dont know what i need to do to make shur they are big enough. my panel is only 9inch by 0 inch. It seems weird that i am putting out 4 volts
If a car battery contains 50 amp hours of charge at 2 volts, that's 600 watt hours of energy. divided by 34.03 watts, 7.63 hours to charge completely in direct sunlight. You don't want to connect them all in series. You want about 4 or 5 volts to charge a 2 v battery, so you should connect groups in parallel, and connect those groups in series to make your voltage. You'll end up with the same amount of power, lower volts and higher amps. It will work for trickle charging your battery if it's not too far run down.
Q:i trying to make a solar panel. right now i dont have money to go and buy a copper sheet. so can i make it out of aluminum foil. if there is a way please tell me how. and what do i use for wires. i making this to charge batteries.

Q:Can solar panels be installed on schools or universities?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on schools or universities. In fact, many educational institutions around the world are increasingly adopting solar energy systems to reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and provide hands-on learning opportunities for students about renewable energy. Installing solar panels on schools and universities can not only help them become more sustainable but also serve as a powerful educational tool for students and the broader community.
