Q:How do solar panels affect the homeowner's insurance policy?
Solar panels can potentially affect a homeowner's insurance policy as they are considered an added feature or improvement to the property. The presence of solar panels may result in an increase in the insured value of the home, leading to higher insurance premiums. However, some insurance companies offer specialized coverage for solar panels, which may provide additional protection against damage or theft. It is advisable for homeowners to contact their insurance provider to discuss any necessary adjustments or coverage options related to their solar panel installation.
Q:Can someone tell me the average savings you get PER solar panel installed? I do not have the money to invest in a bunch of them at once, so I am forced to buy one at a time, when I have the money. So how much can I expect to save after I buy the first one?
No matter what or how you do it it is best to get off coal and nukes. So it cost a little bit of money you are buying 30 years of electric. How much will you spend adding in cost of living increases over the next 30 years? Solar really is pretty cheap if you take the time to do the long term math. If you use your cost at to days rates it does seem like a lot. But if you do the math like in real life with 3.5% compounded cost of living increases per year and 6.5% fuel increases per year. Well, you pay a lot more renting power. One other thing to think about and Al Gore keeps pointing it out is, Will your off spring be alive in 50 years from now if you don't buy the solar panel? Kind of like not going to the doctor because you can't afford the bill. Well I would rather owe a bill to a doctor that I will have trouble paying then not be alive at all to try. If you don't have the money to jump in and go full blown Green you should buy a starter system. You can get a system that can be expanded to 3000 watts (enough to power an energy efficient home). Would cost you about $8000 USD to get started and then you could add three solar modules at a time till you get it up to the 3000 watt max. And even have backup power. Or you could just buy a 000 watt system for about the same price and just add 3 of them over the years. There are many ways to get started. The deal is everyone needs to get started even if it is a small system. If all 50 million homes in the USA would install a small 000 watt system with 4 hours of sun light a day. We would provide (000 watts times 4 hours times 365 days times 50 million homes) 29,000,000,000,000 watts not from coal or nuke plants per year. I wonder if that would help?
Q:i was looking into making solar panels to reduce my electric bill, but i need to know how to actually hook it up.
most of the listings are there to get you to send 'em money. some promise a refund if they don't work. good luck getting your money back. it's not going to happen. last, the inverter, and control to feed power back into the grid are expensive. the utility gets to control what you can use, and most often you have to buy it from them. in Calif, the utility has an interest in good solar installations. they provide power during the time of peak demand, so the utility does not have to build/buy the last, most expensive kilowatt. however, (A) any installation that will be at all useful is large, and expensive, and (B) as with all electronics, next year will be better. i'll probably do it. but not yet.
Q:I just moved into somewhere with solar panels but don't really understand them...all I know is that they heat the water.Do I still have to turn the hot water on with the solar panels or do they heat it automatically or do they store the energy until I turn on the hot water?!
Custom solar-heating systems are unique. Does yours have a circulating pump? Does it have a storage tank? Is the fluid that goes to the panels separated from the household water and transfers heat through a heat-exchanger radiator, and the fluid has antifreeze in it? If it does, is the antifreeze of the variety that won't poison your family if there is a leak? Does your system have a thermostat-controlled pump that turns on when the water in the panels are hot? Does it have a limit-thermostat to turn off the pump when water in the storage tank is hot? There are many more variations to operation of solar-heating panels. Find out who designed it or who knows how to operate it and ask them.
Q:can you buy single solar panels say to power a washing machine fridge etc.if so where can i buy them from
Solar electricity for single appliances high power is not easily available. By the time you fit the solar panel and all the technology to convert the power into the correct voltage and current, you may as well fit one which will provide for all electricity needs. I have a solar panel charger which can be used to provide power for direct current operated devices and they are a useful backup if your phone or iPod runs out of battery power whilst on the move. The UK energy saving trust has some great advice on how to reduce fuel costs and going green generally, but their major message is conserving energy, using less, is the best thing that you can do for the planet.
Q:My washer is 20 volts 60 gz,9.6 amps. The solar panels I am looking at are: Sharp ND-208U Solar Panels (208 Watt) List Price $,479.99 Only $,049.99 Sharp Solar Panels (208 Watt) List Price $,352.99 Only $,040.99 If I buy that will it be enough to run my washer?
P(Watts) = I(Amps) x V(Volts) Power = 9.6 x 20 Power = ,52 Watts. Therefore you would require 6 x 208Watt solar panels to power the machine on a clear bright day, many more on a cloudy or dull day. Sorry to be a little rain cloud!
Q:How do solar panels impact the aesthetics of a building?
Solar panels can have both positive and negative impacts on the aesthetics of a building. On one hand, solar panels can enhance the visual appeal by adding a modern and sustainable look to the structure. They can be integrated seamlessly into the design, giving the building a contemporary and eco-friendly appearance. On the other hand, some people may find solar panels visually unappealing or out of place, especially if they are not well-integrated or if they differ significantly from the building's architectural style. Ultimately, the impact on aesthetics will depend on the design and placement of the panels, as well as individual preferences.
Q:Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of pollution from industrial activities?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of pollution from industrial activities. While pollution can have some impact on the efficiency of solar panels, they are still able to generate electricity even in polluted areas. Regular cleaning and maintenance of the panels may be required to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, installing solar panels in such areas can help offset some of the carbon emissions from industrial activities, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
Q:How do solar panels affect the local job market?
Solar panels can have a positive impact on the local job market by creating new employment opportunities. The installation, maintenance, and manufacturing of solar panels require skilled workers, thus leading to job growth in these sectors. Additionally, the shift towards renewable energy sources like solar power can stimulate the local economy through increased investments and business development.
Q:What size of system would I need to get if I use on average 500 kilowatt hrs a month I would like to do a tie in grid system I live in the states south central area of States any info or links to sites would be wonderful I am interested in this type of energy soure thank you
I think if you have the land have a solar array on your land. Putting on the house could cause it to collapse! 400 kilowatts per week is a huge usage. Turn some stuff off and don't leave the entertainment stuff on standby. Fill empty spaces in your freezers with blocks of polystyrene and be sensible with usage.
