- Q: MP: Do you do any origami?MP: How bored are you at the moment?MP: What do you think of this She Wolf song by Shakira?I can't really form an opinion on it.
- How can I make a paper crane come to life and fly me away to another world? Wish on a paper mache star? MP: Do you do any origami? Randomly yes I do. MP: How bored are you at the moment? Mmmm, I'm a work so yes. MP: What do you think of this She Wolf song by Shakira? I first heard it while viewing the video. I think I probably looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Conundrum.
- Q: My best friend is going to live in Japan for about a year soon, and I want to send him a birthday present while he's there. A lot of the places I've looked say it's common to make 1000 cranes for people as a wedding present, or in preparation for your own wedding so I'm not sure this is an appropriate gift -___- Also, I have no idea how I would ship them to him...
- A 1000 cranes set is a lovely thought would be a wonderful present. But you have one problem. How many boxes will it take to ship 1000 origami cranes to Japan? How much will it cost? Remember, airmail is very expensive, USPS doesn't do overseas surface mail anymore. Mailing parcels to Japan with DHL/UPS would cost you at least $80 for 20 pounds or less. You would do better to send your friend cash by wire transfer. Furthermore, since your friend will be in Japan for 12 months, I would guess his living quarters are not spacious. The average home is only 1000 sq feet in size. Apartments can be as tiny as 100 sq.ft. Where will he put 1000 cranes? He will have it for a few months before he has to pack to return home. What will he do then? Toss the cranes or ship them home? I believe he would prefer to have the wire transfer. Cost of living in Japan is high. Cash is going to be so appreciated even if 1000 cranes gift is a sweet sentimentality. Check the sites referenced for cost of shipping.
- Q: i probably sound like an idiot asking this question :Pis it electricity? fossil fuel burning involved? pulleys? how does the pulley work? any human power involved? specifically, how is it stupid to lift a chair that can be lifted by a person, with a crane?
- Most cranes are diesel engine powered hydraulics and hydraulic motor. So that would be fossil fuel. Some cranes use pulleys to magnify the total lifting capacity. A pulley magnifies work by exchanging distance for lifting power. For example, to lift a 10 ton weight 20 feet in the air, if you put four pulleys in there so that 80 feet of cable would have to be pulled up , then it would only take 1/4 the amount of power to lift that 10 tons (2.5 ton lifting force would lift it) Look at any links or wikipedia for how compound pulleys work.
- Q: The role of slewing limiter in tower cranes is limited
- The function of the rotary limiter is to restrict the large arm to stop at a certain setting. Protect from turning to dangerous range so as to avoid collision and other dangerous accidents!The function of the amplitude limiter is to restrict the car to come out or return somewhere to stop and protect the car from or within certain dangerous range.The hook safety device is to prevent the wire rope from falling out of the big hook, so as to avoid falling and other dangerous events!
- Q: I'm folding 1000 origami cranes for my upcoming wedding. It's a tradition. I'm trying to find a website that can show me how to make the cranes into a large picture or an idea for a mobile. I found some sites that show pictures of each, but nothing with a how to on it.

- Q: Okay Answers community, I need your help. I recently received a thousand paper cranes for my birthday and I want to know, what's the best way to hang them up (like on fishing line etc.)? Also, at the moment I think I'd like to hang them up in my bedroom, in interesting patterns. Any suggestions for how to arrange the cranes, or other ideas for what to do with a thousand paper cranes? Just remember, I'd like to keep the lot!
- use all of them to create one big one (assuming they're all similar)
- Q: Hey,My grandma has a big country estate with a river and its her birthday coming up. She's indicated she might like another peacock (we've had them before), but I'm thinking of branching out into other birds. We tried Lady Amerhursts pheasants, but one of the dogs knocked over their cage before they were properly acclimatised and they disappeared.So, does anyone know if its possible to get storks or cranes or other big waterbirds to keep as domestics?They'd be free ranging on the estate and the river, so need to be smart about foxes and mink (ie roost in trees or go into a house). We've kept geese and ducks successfully on our river like this, so does anyone have any ideas?Or should we try again with pretty pheasants?
- Depends on where you live ? Stick to Ornamental Pheasants or Ducks,Storks and Cranes,need to be penned in at night because you will have to pinion them to prevent them flying. Try some Golden Pheasants for a try ,Lady Amherst are becoming a rare commodity and are quite expensive,if you have Foxes and Mink,then no matter what you get you will have problems these two predators.
- Q: My hubby just passed his crane test yesterday, and I was wondering how much they pay? He was told to ask for 50k a year..that includes crane time where he works. Can we really ask that? He sets trusses for a big lumber company in Missoula Mt. Any help would be great.
- I'm sure it depends on where you work, and what kind of crane. 20-ton bridge where I worked paid about $20k/hr, and included overtime, so that would be approaching 50k/yr
- Q: What is the standard weight of a tower crane for 1.6*1.6*3 and 1.6*1.6*5m? Kg?
- The standard weight of tower cranes for 1.6*1.6*3 and 1.6*1.6*5m is 500KG
- Q: I'm not afraid of snakes, mice, spiders, or any insect, for that matter. Except crane flies. I'm not even afraid of mosquitoes! However, I've been afraid of crane flies since I was six. I live in Louisiana and The crane flies came today, exactly on the same day they came last year. I don't care about them outside but I freak out when they're inside- especially in my bedroom, the bathroom, and the living room. What can I do to a) protect my house from them and b) not be afraid of them? I'm 14 by the way.
- I'm glad i'm not the only one scared of crane flies! They're huge and when you crush them eggs or poop come out. ;A;
