- Q: I'm an engineer. I was employed at a rather large company that manufactures heavy duty off road vehicles, (Wheel Loaders and Excavators and such). Recently, I've lost my job because the quot;higher upsquot; in my company decided to cut costs. They hired an engineer from India to replace me at a fraction of the cost of my wage. I'm middle class and when I see these people with six figure incomes it makes me question their true worth? They will argue that it's actually positive for our the company and our ecomony, but as I sit here typing this, (unemployed), I wonder....who are the ones benefitting? I am unemployed. I don't build bulldozers any longer but they are still being built. These bulldozers clear the land for the house that I can no longer afford. The carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc. don't have a job because the house was never built. They don't have to buy tools anymore either. The trucks that deliver those tools will be parked. I wish I could type more, but you get the point!
- Do you really want more government involvement in the economy? How do you think things got the way they are now, too much government interference in private business. How many small businesses are being forced out of business because they cannot afford to meet government regulations, and never could for that matter. How many of them were taxed out of existence too?
- Q: I'm considering purchasing a Sandfish Skink (Scincus scincus) and am wondering whether or not Excavator substrate would be good. Please don't warn me about impaction for using sand; these guys live in the desert.
- No, that excavator stuff is great for animals that love to dig burrows, but sandfish are one of the few reptile species that really SHOULD be kept on loose sand (most desert species should not). They've evolved to live in sand dune environments, and swim through the sand (hence their name). So, use clean, dry play sand--you can get it from local hardware stores, it's made for children's sand boxes. The substrate should be 6 inches deep. Use a good UVB basking light, with a 100F basking spot. Cool side should be 80F during the day.
- Q: the health risks are from it being there
- call your land lord and insist it be cured immediatly if you own, it gets rougher. there is a leak/blockage.or a full tank i would check the tank level, then rent an augur, then dig. get out the canal wrench and dig the area out to see what kind of pipe you're dealing with. abs is easiest, clay can be ugly, and ductile is impossible for most homeowners
- Q: I would like to operate heavy equipment such as a dozer, crane, excavator, etc. All the jobs I have seen require experience, how do I lean to do this if everyone wants you to know how already? I have seen schools that you can go to but they charge $10,000 for a 9 week class, I cannot afford this and prob wouldnt pay that if I could afford it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
- IF you do not want to attend a certified school, (and I don't blame you) then your best option is to apply to the companies that do the type of work, get a spot as a laborer, and while you are in your interview, clarify what you want to do. (for yourself and for the company) Start out on the bottom, and find a mentor that will be willing to teach you, or get the company to send you to school. It is a great field to be in, so don't give up.
- Q: wikipedia Christians in the Persian Gulf
- There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand. Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.

- Q: I need to build a bridge to open up a pasture. It was be traveled by horses and people. I am thinking of three ways to go about it. 4 concrete footers (2 on each side of the stream), 2 6x6s and several 2x6 for the slats. Or, the same thing but instead of the 6x6s, use steel i bars. And finally, find a culvert and have it put in as the final thought. To give you more information on the setting, the span is about 10 feet long and I would only need it to be about 6 foot wide for this purpose. The water does get pretty high during heavy rain, but never exceeds the banks, even during major floods. Most of the time it is a trickle. Banks are around 4 foot high. I have no idea where I can get i beams or culverts big enough for this gap. Also, not sure what the best method is. Would like to avoid culvert because I would have to contact the township and hire an excavator. A bridge I can most likely do myself.Any ideas are GREATLY appreciated!!

- Q: i'm not dealing with engineering line. This might soubds like a stupid question to ask. But i just need to know. Hope you can help me to sort it out. Thanks alot.
- The bucket diesigner/builder would be Mechanical Engineering. Even though the end use is Civil-related, the company in question is going to have mostly mechanical engineers.
- Q: obviously, i can't really get a yes or no answer on this, but what i'm actually looking for is, what proof is there that the trojan war could have possibly happened?so far i've got- Parry's experiment in regards to how the story was passed down- Ancient Historians (herodotus, [he spoke about wife stealing])- Archaeological evidence (they found a possible site of Troy)- I NEED MORE!!!!!! any other ideas, even if they are just your own stupid theories)
- IS there any truth to the Trojan war or is it just a story that gained popularity and embellishment as it travelled by word of mouth before it was actually transcribed? Heinrich Schliemann has already been mentioned and who as a boy had read Homer's epics. It was this enthusiasm that stayed with him until he died and it was this passion that led him in 1870 to start digging at the town of Hissarlik in Turkey where he believed Troy was buried. This find made people sit up and listen. Schliemann also realised that there was more than one city built at this location and in fact a total of nine levels were discovered, suggesting that there were nine cities over a period of time. Each of these cities and up to level V lasted for roughly about a hundred years were often destroyed by fire. Level VI, built at about 1900 B.C., saw a change in being inhabited by a new people who were the first to bring the horse to the Greek mainland. There was no evidence of horses prior to level VI. Troy VI was destroyed by an earthquake in 1275 and Troy VIIa as was named by archaeologists was constructed soon after the destruction of Troy VI by the same people. There are interesting facts about the remains of this level which point to the fact that the Trojan War did actually happen. Many of the houses had huge storage jars which would be needed to store a lot of food when under siege and this level was also destroyed by fire which was often the usual fate of a conquered city. Skeletons were found with what appeared to be wounds inflicted by a weapon. Finally, Troy VIIa was inhabited at a time when Greek historians, without the benefit of archeology, said the Trojan War was fought. The likely date for the destruction of this level is 1250 and this is backed up by the Greek historian, Herodotus of the fifth century B.C. Therefore if there was a Trojan War this is where and when it was fought.
