- Whooping cranes ARE a part of the food chain..every animal on the planet is....Nata has NO clue what they are talking about. And I HAVE seen a whooping crane before..in the wild while working in Florida. Only 6 existed on the refuge I was working on and I was lucky enough to see 4 of them. It is something I will never forget! If we lost this bird, the animals it feeds on may increase in numbers causing plagues, and other birds that may live and feed in similar habitats may become too plentiful as well since they would have no competition from the cranes. Those birds could in turn wipe out other species. There are also many changes that might take place that we could not even guess at...until it actually happened. This is often the case as we still do not have a great understanding of how one species affects another. But all species DO affect one another, think of each species as a link in a chain, or a strand in a spider web. If you start snipping strands in a web, or damaging or breaking links, what do you think will happen. They will weaken and collapse and eventually fall apart.

- The main idea of Cranes by Hwang Sun-Won is more of a symbolic thing; he uses different objects such as chestnuts and cigarettes, as well as the cranes in the story to convey his hope and his dream, along with his message. He is expressing the power of war, particularly civil war, which can rip apart families, neighbors and the best of friends. The story, unlike many other tragic civil war tales, is not focused on the idealogical difference btw Tok-Chae and Song-Sam. Rather, it is about the human tragedy of the Korean War. Tok-Chae and Song-Sam were ripped apart by the War. Song-Sam, on his return to his village, he finds Tok-Chae and decides to escort him to a Public Peace Police office a few miles away. On the way, he gets flashbacks and talks with Tok-Chae. These things help to change his mind and he frees Tok-Chae. This is symbolized by the two cranes which soared high into the sky. Hwang-Sun Won conveys his message effectively; unification will be achieved and is needed to repair such ties like Tok-Chae and Song-Sam. He is saying that the two cranes will fly together once more.

The Eng Chun part is the Fukienese dialect for Wing Chun, which is the name of the Village it derived in. It is also pronounced Yong Chun White Crane Fist and from it is where Wing Chun derives its Fajing technique known as 1 inch punch. The 5 Ancestor style is Ngo Cho Kuen or Wu Zu Quan, again - dialectal differences. It is also a Fukienese Art. Wing Chun, a Southern Shaolin Style is NOT related in ANY way to Hsing I Chuan, which is of Wu Tang/Taoist origin. Goju Ryu has some White Crane Influence but is derived from the Hakka Arts like Southern Mantis, Bak Mei and the like. Tiger Crane and White Crane are not related. The crane in the Hung Family Boxing is more the Tibetan White Crane and not the Fujian Crane. There is a mix up in the history which makes it a bit complicated. Gee Sim was from the Northern Shaolin School and went south to the Fukien temple to escape the Ching. He taught there, met Hung Hei Koon and taught him Tiger Fist. Gee Sim and Hung also left Fukien because of the Ching and went to Guandong and there is where Hung Fist developed into what it is today. The White Crane Fist of Fujian/Fukien came from the 18 Lohan Style Fang Chi Niang learned from her Father, who was a student at the Fukien temple, and mimicry of Crane movements. These styles, Crane and Hung were being developed around the same time but hundreds of miles apart. It is known that Wong Fei Hung trained in Lama Pai aka Tibetan Crane and also he is credited with creating the Tiger Crane Form aka Fu Hok. I hope this helps.

- It depends on how big they are, and how fast you are at folding. If you can fold one crane a minute, 1000 minutes would translate to about 17 hours. How you then spread out 17 hours of paper folding is up to you.
