- Q:I would like to be a real estate developer, but i don't know how, so i have a few questions for you to answer. Thanks. What qualifications (A levels) do you need, and what to study in University? When you invest in a project, do you design the construction and use your own money, or do you get a loan from the bank? How would you promote your new construction (i.e a block of flats)? How much money would a real estate developer earn per job (in UK)? Thanks for your time, (Also if anyone knows where should i go for work experience, something to do with the real estate development business? Thanks
- In order to be a real estate developer you need experience as a builder and you need lots of money. Say you want to build a few houses, you will need to buy the land and then get a construction loan. Banks are very reluctant to loan money to a newcomer and they will want high interest rates if they do make the loan. Remember you do not get your money out until the project is complete and you could run into cost over runs and who knows what else during the construction phase. If you run out of money before the construction is complete you are SOL. Your potential for profit is huge but so is your risks. Right now there are lots of developers that have finished projects that they can not sell because the market prices for the units is not enough to pay off the construction loans.
- Q:I am interested in real estate, either corporate or residential. I just finished my BA degree in Economics and I think I want to try my hand at real estate. What would be the steps I need to do from here? How and where would I get my license? Any information would be helpful thank you.
- Call up any large real estate firm in your town, and inquire about classes and getting your license. Takes about 6 weeks or so I believe.
- Q:My husband and I found an apartment for sale (which we very much want to buy) by looking through the NYTimes real estate pages. We contacted the agent representing the listing and went to an open house. Basically, to make a long story short, we do not have our own agent/broker and would like to make an offer on the apartment. Do we need an agent to represent us? And if we do, how does the agent get paid for her/his services?
- yes, the agent gets paid. No you don't NEED one per se, if you know what you are doing.
- Q:I am a buyer, I live in California, my real estate agent ask me to sign a "Buyer Representation Agreement" (Form BRE from California Association of Realtors) with her. I am afraid I will be ripped off by the contract, so I would like to know:1. For buying a house, is it normal to sign a contract w/ your agent?2. My agent ask for a 6 month contract, is it too long?3. If I sign the contract then later I am not satisfied with her service, can I terminate the contract before it's expired without penalty?4. She said by the contract, I can't buy any property from any other agent which she's showed first. Does that mean I can still ask other agents to show me houses those she didn't (or unable to) show me?Thank you very much for your help and answers.

She said by the contract, I can't buy any property from any other agent which she's showed first. Does that mean I can still ask other agents to show me houses those she didn't (or unable to) show me? First of all, not all people sign with an agent to find a house, but she wants to make sure she gets credit and payment for all the hard work she does for you! Secondly, that is a long time to sign a contract. You can terminate the contract but read the fine print, what does it say about termination? I am sure it addresses that somewhere in the fine print. Why are you asking if other agents can show you a house? Is there some reason why you cant have her show you all the houses you want to see? That is why you hired her in the first place, so she can show you all the houses you want.....unless you are looking at houses that are for sale by owner? Are you unhappy with her for some reason? It sounds like it. Sounds like you are regretting that contract with her. If you don't like her, see if the agency will substitute another agent for her.
- Q:I was thinking about doing real estate...a job to do on the side? How can I get started? What should be done? And what is the salary?
- What I believe woud be in your best interest would be to interview three brokers within your community and experss to them your desire for real estate. Most of the brokers have been in the business for years and can give you some keen insights to the business. Many brokers today only hire fulltime agents. The other yahoo answer was correct as most brokers pay a commission when a property is sold. It could be be six month or more before you may have your first sale. The business has many rewards and headaches. Good Luck
- Q:i,m 13 and i know it's a long time till it's happening but i live in norway and i have set my mind to be a real estate agent... in us. Is it difficult to become a real estate agent? i'm planning to educate there. what do i have to be good at, at school?
- Becoming a real estate agent in the US is not terribly difficult. You must take a test to get your license and you can study for the exam on your own and take the test when you are ready. A license is good for one state only, if you want to practice real estate in another state, you will have to take that state's exam. The most important part of any real estate agent's job is marketing. Learn marketing, sales, and personal relationships. That is how you will make the most money as a real estate agent. Read the book How to Win Friends and Influence People. Then take classes in marketing and sales. You will be ahead of the game if you do those things.

- Q:Real Estate Agent.Under:BusinessMarketingAccountingEtc???
- Look to see if there is something in Financial Services, Finance, Real estate, or law. The running of a real estate office could be management. Appraisals could be under construction. You do not need a college degree to be an agent and therefore most colleges do not have a program. Community Colleges are most likely. If you just want the license, contact your community colleges continuing education (non-credit) department. If your college offers it for credit it will be somewhere in business (usually in finance because of the mortgages). A degree in sales, marketing, management, or finance makes sense for this job.

- Q:I am currently a sophomore in high school. I am planning on becoming a real estate agent when I graduate. I live in Texas, but really want to move to New York. Do I have to be a residence of New York in order to sell houses there? What classes should I take in high school to be prepared for the real world of selling houses?
- Consult your guidance department and your local real estate companies. Be aware that your accent may place you at a distinct disadvantage in New York
