Q:I can rent a small/medium sized excavator. not a mini, but not a huge one....will use it mostly to dig out stumps and move some boulders, but do you know if its capable ot pushing over pines and birches up to 6 to 8 inches in diameter? Id love to just level clear an acre or so..... Thoughts?: If your aim is to clear an acre, you should invest in a good chainsaw,preferably 18-20 inch bar.Once you have downed the trees, rent a stump grinder for a week (or more) and remove the stumps. Then rent the backhoe for the boulders. A backhoe is not the ideal choice for all of these assorted tasks.If you have never downed trees before, I would have some one along in case of an accident and to assist in lining up where you need to cut the tree to have it fall where you want it. Suggestions: to have a tree fall in the correct direction, take a walk around it to see which way it leans (if at all) and if there is anything in it's falling path (vehicles, people, etc). The proper way to do this is to make your first cut on the front side, this will be a V cut (falling side) up to 1/2 to 3/4 of the diameter of the tree. Then on the opposite side cut straight through to about 1 or 2 inches of the the first cut and move directly back away from the tree as it falls.Wear eye. ear, hand protection.

Q:how can i find a course that will teach me how to drive those big demolition machines that are involved in tearing down buildings and trees. i live in canada so it needs to be available in canada.: Don't know about Canada but in the USA you have to have a contractor's license! You have to be able to drive the equipment and be certified (depending on the state you are in) best of luck

Q:If one excavator can excavate 40 m3/hr, one loader can load 50 m3/hr and one dump truck can haul dump 60 m3/hr?: 40 cubic meters per hour only. Even the loader and the dump truck can potentially carry and work more, they're still dependent on the output of the excavator.

Q:I need one for the panama canal what brands and models fit the specs. It cant be small it needs to be a medium sized one.: That is hard to answer without knowing what you are doing with it. What reach do you need? how much weight will it be lifting? are you loading trucks? what size bucket do you need? A 320 Cat is a smaller excavator where a 330 is closer to a medium size excavator. Th next question is what about parts and service? If your on a production job you need to think about parts and service availability. Would you want a contractor to go and do the job? Q:We have a mini excavator and it's not being used much at all and we could use some extra money. I'm considering loaning it out for a price. Iquot;m curious if anyone has any experience in this. I'm guessing I'd need some sort of insurance in case it comes back broken. I'd need them to sign a contract. The excavator doesn't have a title, so how do I protect it from being stolen? Any thoughts or advice on this sort of business. What to think of before starting something like this.: I had a commercial carpet cleaner I was thinking about doing the same thing with and with all the same problems and thoughts your are mentioning. They are saying you ought to be able to rent it for about 5 % of the cost of the thing per day. So I should be able to rent my $800 cleaner for about $40 per day. My though was to not just rent it to anyone, just to people I know or who are from a solid referral. People who are doing contracting work might be really hard on the equipment, but a local home owner would really be able to use it and maybe not beat it up too much. If you were getting $40 or $50 per rental, that would not be too bad of money for equipment not being used. I would talk it up with people you know, and maybe even go with the machine when you rent it. You are there, they are using your machine for 2 hours, you advise and collect the money, they do the work. Might work? meljr
