Q: I understand the Crane stances and know there are more than one. I am referring to the single leg crane stance. I also know that stances are only used briefly. But I am curious, does this stance have any bunkai applications? Or is it only useful against dodging a kick or preparing to kick?
What you call Crane stance with a single leg in contact with the ground actually has many applications besides kicking. BTW: As I understand it, doesn't bunkai mean application? The single leg stance is also a mean to focus power from one rooted leg to your punch. The mechanics for a kick from the crane stance can also be used in a punch. It is actually the same. The force you exert from that single leg against the ground or your root-ness is transmitted through your body to the fist or even a block. Think about a situation where you are rapidly transferring your weight from one leg to the other such as when you are backpedaling or moving quickly and see an opening to strike. The power for that strike can still be generated by that one single leg in that instance when it is properly rooted. So rather than planting both legs first and then strike, you can do so with just that single leg that is already in place.
Q: would a tower crane be a first class, second class, or third class?
The crane is balanced, with a fulcum somewhere between the ends. On one end, you have counter weight sometimes can be moved. On the end, you usually have the crane part, which can be trolleyed from the end toward the fulcum. If my memory serves me. a wheel barrow is a type 2, because the fulcum is on the end and the load is toward the middle. So this leaves you with a type 1 or 3. Try searching using the key word group lever type fulcum and I'll bet you get your answer.
Q: How does a person go about becoming a Gantry Crane Operator? And what is it like?
First you need an opportunity to operate a Gantry Crane, then you will to to get a crane operator license. Finally, you need to find a company who needs a Gantry Crane operator, but if you have located the first step, then you have found someone.
Q: the cable of Crane I creates and angle of 30 degree angle from the horizontal and the cable of Crane II creates an angle of 45 degrees from the horizontal.-draw a figure that gives a visual representation of the problem-write a vector to represent the tension on the cable of Crane I-write a vector to represent the tension on the cable of Crane II-write a vector to represent the 20000 lb cargo container being lifted -calculate the tension on both cables. Justify your answer.....please help me!!! thank you!!!!:)
All I can say is.. Big crane make big thing go up.
Q: I saw a picture of a oragami crane ring that was made out of money on a website but it diddint have any instructions on how to make it. I can already make the regular ring, but i would really like to try to make the crane ring does anyone know of any website that has instructions on how to make it??
I web-searched and found a picture which cited a Yahoo group as a source of further information. The group does *not* have an open archive. If you're interested in other money-fold projects, you may wish to consider joining that group. I'm listing a link for the group below.
Q: i have a 100 ton american crawler crane. how do i calculate the psf, for this equipment.
Not sure what you are asking exactly... Are you saying that you have a crane with a capacity of 100 tons and you want to know the pressure on the soil where the crane is positioned? In this case, you take the capacity (in pounds) plus the weight of the crane (in pounds) then divide their sum by the area of the tracks on the crane (in square feet). This will result in pounds per square foot or psf as you wrote above. These are example estimates, they may not be anywhere near the correct answer, this is simply how to do the calculation. Assumed Capacity 100 ton = 200,000 lbs. Assumed Weight 105 ton = 210,000 lbs. Assumed Area of Track = 200 square feet Note: 1 U.S. ton = 2,000 pounds = 2,000 lbs. 410,000 lbs / 200 square feet = 2,050 psf There's a start, now you just need to find out how much it actually weighs and how long and wide the tracks are to get the area of the track on the ground. I hope that answers the question you were asking.
Q: Just curious... I'm not in construction and always wondered...
The top sections of the mast beneath the crane are removed one at a time and lowered to the ground. The top section of the crane has hydraulic rams that lower it down one mast section at a time. It is hard to describe without a diagram or photos. See photos at attached link. In some design, the jacking portion is at ground level. The crane jacks itself up so a 20' section of the mast can be unbolted and slide out. Then the jack is lowered so the process can be repeated. See second link for photos and a more detailed explanation.
Q: But theres always someone who gets a prize everytime. Its so unfair!lol
I am 16 and i still watch Spongebob, so what i dont care what people think, and yes by the way they make those darn things loose. I'm a winner see my prize, your a lozer who sits and cries.
Q: In stephen Crane's The Open Boat does the correspondent change from the beginning of the story to the end?
Wow. I haven't read this in years but I loved this shortstory. Yes, the narrator (or corespondent) definitely changes and the nature of this change is made explicit in the closing passages of the story where, if I recall correctly, he says that he feels as if he has become an interpreter of nature.
Q: We see lots of cranes doing some heavy lifting during construction. But how do they get so high up these buildings? And when construction is nearly done, how do they go back down?
Depends on the building of course. Either a taller crane is brought in to lift them, or they're lifted by helicopter. And sometimes a building effectively builds itself, and the crane moves up with the construction platform after being constructed at ground level. Will still need a helicopter to remove it of course.
