- The scorch marks are where the formica has been highly oxidized (basically lightly burned). Your only hope is that you caught the marks before the burn went too deep. Try a very mild abrasive to remove the bad formica. (Gently as the formica covering isn't very thick).

- It sounds like you sorta got a collection of sorta failed bulb-holders. The springs in these sorta go weak after a while and, especially in difficult locations like damp bathrooms and vibrating ceiling fans, they can go sorta intermittent sorta. You should isolate the power and replace the failed bulb holders. These are not usually difficult (sorta).

- Q: We are replacing our 42" vanity cabinet with 36 " vanity cabinet. I would like to place the left side of the cabinet flush against the wall, but my husband feels it is important to center it on the existing plumbing... This would mean we would have a 3" gap on the left side between the wall and cabinet. Is centering the cabinet on the plumbing the only way ? I just dont think that will look right.
- If you do not centre it with the plumbing, the drain, hot and cold piping will have to be extended and this will likely use extra space inside the cabinet. You already are losing 6 inches of storage space in the cabinet. Place a towel rack on that side so the towels hang down ito the 3 inch space.

- If you just want a vanity, glue, or nail the drawers shut, remove the insides, cut a hole for the pipes, and for the sink. From there it's the same as any counter top. If you want the drawers to work it's not a DIY, unless you have plenty of carpentry skills. Whatever, finish with 2-3 coats of water-based-poly to seal. Oh, great idea! They're really classy!
