- in coherent light the phase of all the light rays is same or differs by a constant phase angle. whereas in ordinary light the phase angle of rays are random. eg: of coherent light is laser and that of ordinary light is a bulb in your home

- Q: Are LED lights safer than fluorescent lights?
- While florescent lights emit some radiation, LED emit nothing. There are those who recommend to keep a safe distance from any florescent/CFL light because of this. Currently the most energy efficient light source is LED. It saves up to 97% electricity! There are other types of light bulbs that use less electricity than florescent and cost less than LED such as mercury bulbs etc. These bulbs, however aren't suitable for domestic use because they have a few limitations: 1) They require long time to start. Can you imagine having light 2 minutes after flipping the switch? 2) They don't produce white light. Only a kind of yelowish-orange light. For these reasons mercury lights are used currently only for roads lighting.

- It probably does depend on which medium you're talking about, but usually higher-frequency, smaller wavelength lights feel the electromagnetic permittivity (is.gd/pTW0dJ) and permeability (is.gd/t1plmo) of the medium more than the lower frequency, larger wavelength lights.
