- Q: A few years ago, my college decided to take down two multilevel dormitories. The demolition company decided to take it down piecemeal with a wrecking ball. The wrecking ball was attached to the crane via a very large tire (just the rubber part, not the inflatable part). I have seen this done on normal cranes and other wrecking balls on TV and was wondering if any professional construction people out there know why they would do this as to me, a guy not in the construction/demolition business, think that might be a bit unsafe.
- It really depends on the terrain or the platform where this crane will stand.. If it is in a muddy or sandy terrain, then they may opt to use a chain tire. Cranes, dont merely rely on the tires. Cranes use outriggers. These are the extending arm of the crane. This hydraulically operated mechanism goes out of the cranes body, extends and extablished itself at four corners and sits at the ground to provide leverage for the cranes. This will prevent the crane to overturn when it is doing the operation.
- Q: Remember. You heard it here first.
- It's okorder /.... Judging by the fact that a Google search results in many different companies/aircraft that incorporate the term 'air crane', I would say so. But it seems that the term is usually associated with heavy-lift rotorcraft. It also appears that the term is in the public domain. So, you could call it 'JV's Air Crane' or something like that. I've Googled SkyLift, AirLift, Zeplift- all taken However, DiriLift, DirigiLift, and ZepCrane yielded no results. *I relinquish all rights to these terms
- Q: Is a mobile crane allowed to operate in an inclined plane?
- It has been my experience that cranes like to be level, and not operate unless they are level. But, I am no expert.
- Q: My boyfriend just spotted a baby crane by a tree. It looks like it fell out. A dog was sniffing around so he took the baby crane to his place. I'm trying to find information about cranes, but I find nothing since they're not usually pets unless they're some rare breed. I would really appreciate any advice or input on how to care for the crane until it can fly. Also, how old are cranes when they fly?

- Q: Hi, I'd like to know what a crane symbolises in the asian(?) culture. any other meaningful symbols do list.
- The cranes' beauty and their spectacular mating dances have made them highly symbolic birds in many cultures with records dating back to ancient times. Crane mythology is widely spread and can be found in areas such as the Aegean, South Arabia, China, Korea, Japan and in the Native American cultures of North America. In northern Hokkaidō, the women of the Ainu people, whose culture is more Siberian than Japanese, performed a crane dance that was captured in 1908 in a photograph by Arnold Genthe. In Korea, a crane dance has been performed in the courtyard of the Tongdosa Temple since the Silla Dynasty (646 CE). In Mecca, in pre-Islamic South Arabia, the goddesses Allat, Uzza, and Manah, who were believed to be daughters of and intercessors with Allah, were called the three exalted cranes (gharaniq, an obscure word on which 'crane' is the usual gloss). See The Satanic Verses for the best-known story regarding these three goddesses. The Greek for crane is Γερανο? (Geranos), which gives us the Cranesbill, or hardy geranium. The crane was a bird of omen. In the tale of Ibycus and the cranes, a thief attacked Ibycus (a poet of the 6th century BCE) and left him for dead. Ibycus called to a flock of passing cranes, who followed the murderer to a theater and hovered over him until, stricken with guilt, he confessed to the crime. Pliny the Elder wrote that cranes would appoint one of their number to stand guard while they slept. The sentry would hold a stone in its claw, so that if it fell asleep it would drop the stone and waken.
- Q: Can someone tell me the difference betweem safe working load and capacity of a crane? If possible, please provide reference along with tour answer.thanks for the help!!!
- Example: Suppose a crane is rated for a safe working load of 10,000 pounds. To verify that it can safely handle that load it will be tested by lifting a much heavier proof load. So its capacity must be greater than its safe working load.
- Q: Hi, considering joining a fujian white crane kung fu club, just looking for information on the internet. need videos and photos and descriptions about it. any links? thanks!
- My kind of question! I would like to start off by saying that if you have a Fujian WC school near you, you are very fortunate! I have to travel a bit and worst, wait for Sifu to be available. He is always abroad and busy when home. I learn Yong Chun White Crane. I have practiced Okinawan martial arts all my life and WC is the ancestor of my art, or rather, one of them. What school will you be joining? And Paul, what school do you train in? I also love the Hakka arts, which are somewhat related. FWC is an internal art based on Sam Chien training - Sanchin. It's great to know of others who are interested in White Crane Fist. Lets keep this conversation going!
- Q: The really really tall ones you see next to skyscrapers. How do they assemble them? I thought that maybe they use another crane, but then how did they assemble that crane? Some of them are really, really tall. Try to remember what one looks like. They have long hollow necks with a top section where the driver sits that stretches long horizontally.
- Sorry the only information on Cranes here is of the Feathered variety, you have entered the wrong section sorry.
- Q: In order to ensure the stability of tower cranes, generally along the height of the tower and building a number of meters attached
- Self lifting tower crane tower 45 meters high to prevail, such as height of over 45 meters, each increased to 10 meters (less than 5 meters, excluding) demolition costs increase 20%, off-site transportation costs increased by 10%.
- Q: what is the difference between rigging, wire rope and rope?
- Crane rigging usually refers to the cable that actually is attached to a cylinder in the crane and the motor turns the cyl. and either take up cable or vice versa. The cable is reeved thru the long (arm) boom of the crane and thru pulleys and then at the end of the cable there is a hook.
