I don't know, but if you are considering going to Real Estate school, before you spend the money, I would make sure I understood how extremely difficult the market is in our state. My home, my folks' home, my best friend's home have all lost HALF their value. My other friend has 3 houses for sale on her street that are selling for less than 1/3 of what they were selling for 3 years ago. I don't mean to rain on your parade to be cruel, I just want you to know that it hasn't been this hard to make a living in real estate since the late 70's. Georgia is leading the nation in foreclosures, or was recently. Any real estate school can tell you if a DUI prevents you from getting your license and if you don't want to ask, call the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs, they can steer you to the correct governing agency.

Consider him a sales guy for the sale of the home. If it's sold today you probably won't see your heart throb ever again until you're old enough to be in the adult world of purchasing a home and happen to run across him by chance. Simply put, outside of stalking you'll probably never see him again. Stick to the boys in your school.

I don't feel that any real estate business opportunities are there in Jamaica rather you will get many more opportunities in Canada. I personally feel that Canada will be leading real estate business in coming years.

It is usually a RE salespersons license followed by a brokers license. You can obtain the salespersons one yourself but you must work under a broker for at least a period of one year before you can get your brokers license. You need to look up your states requirements before you do anything else.
Q: I've recently been recruited by a real estate agent suggesting I get into the business. I work in a shoe store and when I helped her she told me that my customer service and people skills would make me a great fit for real estate. It's something I've considered before so now I'm really looking into it. What is the job itself like? What's it like working on commission? What are some common mistakes people make that I would want to avoid? Does this agent want you as his/her licensed assistant? Or they just want you to join the business? If it's the latter, I'd seriously consider whether or not it's a joke or not since no one ever says that unless they genuinely think you can cut it but want to offer you absolutely nothing. Statistics are 50% of new agents quit within their first year. Of the remaining 50%, 50% of them quit within 3 years. It's a tough business. For my real estate board, 80% of sales are done by 20% of agents. That goes to show that there are tons of agents who make nothing. You have to pay to get licensed, then you have your monthly brokerage fees. Let's not forget start up costs like a website, branding, business cards, real estate signs, etc. You get paid solely on commission. So you can bust your butt yet still make nothing. In the beginning I literally worked 80hr weeks and I made less than $25K that year. The next year I didn't work as hard but I made a lot. If you don't have a large network, you'll be doing open houses for awhile or taking people's leads for a percent in return back to them. It's a very tough business but if you have enough money saved up to survive the first few years, you will love it. It's incredibly fun but also incredibly stressful.

If that is the only concern you have, perhaps you should ask such a Q AND A LOT more of someone in the business in your state/commonwealth. I can only speak for Pennsylvania. When I sat for my courses and exams it was an investment of about $1,500 to $2,000 - which was the investment for the sales person’s license. It requires a lot of studying and a desire to want to do it the first time. In Pennsylvania, there is also MCE - Mandatory Continuing Education. It is possible. The classes only cost $350. Then you interview at a few offices. You can be working in 30 days. It is a fun career and you are surrounded by nice people. You never get a salary. You only make money if you sell a house. Very stressful at times.
