- Q: which superheros have anything to do with metal
- Nevermore - Progressive Metal As I Lay Dying - Metalcore Killswitch Engage - Metalcore Children of Bodom - Melodic Death Metal 40 Below Summer - Nu Metal 36 Crazyfists - Metalcore Slayer - Thrash Metal Testament - Thrash Metal Devildriver - Thrash Metal/Death Metal Threat Signal - Metalcore/Industrial it depends on what style of metal you're into..there's a lot with harsh vocals and a lot with clean vocals, heavier music style, lighter music style, etc.. Metalcore is metal and hardcore music blended together, usually has harsh and clean vocals and breakdowns. Nu Metal is basically metal and rap mixed together. Melodic Death Metal is a lighter form of Death Metal, except with more melody and structure, and not as harsh vocals. Thrash metal is fast paced metal that came from punk influences and usually includes more guitar solos than the other forms of metal. Progressive Metal is a mixture of many different types of music. The songs could change, being heavier at one moment, then becoming lighter, heavier again and so on.
- Q: thnx !
- Melodic Death Metal for sure. I do listen to quite a lot of different sub-genres of Metal, but Melodeath is definitely my favourite. Others sub-genres I enjoy include Black Metal and Power Metal.
- Q: I'm just getting into listening metal and wanna know the different styles. What other kinds of metal are there. And what are the differences. What genre is Behemoth, Slipknot, COF?
- I don't know what you mean by metal other than heavy metal or just metal in general, so... Progressive in metal is differentiated from other metal by several things. You can have more than just progressive metal too, you can have progressive black metal (Klabautamann, Subarctic Heir), progressive death metal (Opeth, Death), progressive [heavy] metal (Winds (Nor)), progressive thrash metal (Turbulence (Grc))... etc. Progressive metal often has clean passages, time signatures other than your standard 4/4 or 6/4, and musically complex melodies. That's not to say that the melodies are complex from a playing standpoint, but that in music theory standpoint they're complex and/or unusual. Alternating key changes, especially ones not typical like going by 5ths, but instead changing keys to the third (I.E. instead of going from C to G (5th), going from C to E (3rd)). Often times the rhythm arrangement will be as musically complex as the melody. Progressive songs also tend to be much longer than traditional songs, where as say a regular/tradition metal song would last 3-5 minutes, an average progressive metal song may last 5-10 minutes. Progressive metal lyrics also tend to be more conceptual, and albums tend to be more conceptual, often times telling a story, with each song being a different chapter of the story. Progressive metal also tends to have a lot of shredding in its music. Mostly what sets progressive metal out is its experimentation in compositional complexity, often taking influence from classical music and jazz. This is not to be confused with avant-garde, which tends to lend its experimentation to using non-standard instruments, or using standard instruments in non-standard ways.

- Favorite Heavy Metal Band? UP THE IRONS!!! Been a massive beast of a fan for Iron Maiden since 1985. I was ten when I first heard the dulcet tones of Powerslave, and been hooked ever since. They, and Metallica, have been teh 2 faves ever since. And for 20 years I would have answered Thrash * Rrew up in the middle of the Bay Area Thrash scene* followed real close by Power Metal. But in the last 3 years or so, I have really gotten into Folk and Symphonic Metal, and varients thereof, be it Death, Power or Black or whatever. And good Stoner Metal like the Sword or Spiritual Beggars or High on Fire always works too. But I would say Symphonic(Anything) Metal, overall has taken control of my remote!
- Q: I was pretty sure that metal is referring to music from heavy metal bands like AC/DC, KISS, Judas Priest, Metallica, maybe even Led Zeppelin. But now I'm hearing all of these lesser new bands calling their music metal and it is not at all the same.It irritates me, so I'm wondering if I have the wrong definition all together, or if this new music is just trying to latch on to older and better bands. Thanks
- No. They're not black metal. They're alright. I like their aesthetic, especially. But there's several things that make a band black metal (beyond saying it), and Venom never were any of those things. The first is in the beats, and Venom played really down tempo, old school heavy metal beats. Even their fast songs would be considered slow for black metal. Secondly, their chord progressions are old school. They even use 12-bar blues progressions on certain songs… like Chuck Berry, or Elvis. Black metal doesn't do that. Thirdly, the vocals aren't black metal at all. And that may be the most important thing. There are black metal fans out there who call acoustic folk music black metal… just because it has black metal vocals. Black metal vocals are screamed, really-highed pitched harsh. Goblincore… Venom doesn't sound anything like that. Listen to Gorgoroth. Early Gorgoroth… with Pest as their singer. It's like nails on a chalkboard… which black metal fans, including myself, like. Granted, not all black metal vocals are that high-pitched, but they're always harsh. And if they're too low, they'll get labeled death metal shunned

- Conducting surfaces have a greater propensity to REFLECT EM radiation including light. It's no accident that silvered mirrors are most reflective ( Ag being the most conductive metal ) with aluminum being a preferred coating for large astronomical mirrors.
- Q: I want to buy the whole storyline. Am i correct with this line up?Metal Gear Solid 1Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of liberty Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake EaterMetal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the PatriotIs this correct?
- Physical metals are actually a pretty crummy investment and should at most be a very limited part of your portfolio, if included at all. A well-diversified stock portfolio (with no metals) will serve you much better over the long term.
- Q: Any grand metal bands, that are active, and would fit these particular genres: deathcore, death metal, groove metal, metalcore, nu metal, thrash metal. I'll comment on best answer????. Headbanger's roll!
- I would say 1970-1976 cause Sabbath made metal mainstream to an extent with hard rock also taking in effect at the same time. But with the rise of disco and punk really made rock go on a downfall. Now 1980-1994 cause the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) kept metal from going out of ectinction with bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, etc. Then in 1984 you had Quiet Riot which was the first metal band to reach No 1 on the billborad charts with there cover of Slade's Come On Feel The Noize. With Quiet Riot's sucess it made metal mainstream. With hair metal bands such as Motley Crue, Ratt, Def Leppard, etc.Now the fall of Glam Metal was grunge and the power balled. Also because most hair metal bands worried about looks more than music. In 1992 Metallica, Guns N Roses and Skid Row each hit No 1 each seperate week. Skid Row was the first to hit No 1. Pantera also kept it alive with there hit album also reqaching No 1. After that I would say metal has died and went back to the underground fan base
