There are two options if all that is bad are the threads then you can cut that off the old P-trap and replace it with a P-trap that uses compression fittings. IF the Bronze P-trap pipe is too bad off usually you will find that there is also a large copper pipe it is soldered too. What I do is cut off the old Bronze P-trap at the copper piece. If you can, remove the Bronze piece from the copper pipe with a torch. I like to do this when possible but it is not mandatory. Clean up what ever you have left and use a compression replacement P-trap. I use PVC. They last longer. I can't see what you see so if this is not helpful then a picture would help us better answer this question.
