Q: I heard the wind turbines, solar panels so far provide America with around 2% of our energy. So since liberals appear to want to replace natural energy with man made products, that cause massive pollution by the way to make- How long will that take 30 years, 00 years? How many Wind Turbines will Airplanes and birds and parachute jumpers smash into, isn't that a problem? How do we rid of natural energy before we have the LIBERAL BACK UP PLAN - WE DON'T REALLY HAVE ? How do they think this is gonna work? Its not logical, we need to come up with more ideas! That Battery idea kinda sucks since Batteries Need natural energy to work.
There is an abundance of free energy available on this planet. Wave, wind, solar, (underground), and many many others that I can't remember right now. If some of the multi-trillions currently being spent being spent by the US government on defence (and the rest of the planet defending ourselves FROM the US) were re-directed towards exploiting sustainable, long-term energy supplies, then much work would be generated and the cost of energy would drop significantly - in the long run. So, why are we not utilizing these sources of energy? Unbelievably short-sighted right-wing political ideology, that's why! One thing almost never reported about nuclear power, is that there isn't much nuclear power fuel available on this planet. I think I can quite honestly state that when the time comes when we are forced to move from non-renewable to renewable energy production, it will probably be far too late with far too much damage done and the environment will collapse and become incapable of supporting oxygen breathing life-forms. I concluded many years ago that capitalism will probably end all life on this planet one day. Capitalism IS right-wing politics! Do you now see where the problem is coming from?
Q: If i took a lazier pointer and aimed it a solar panel would it take in the light. Also what types of lights would work on a solar panel like L.E.D, uv light bulbs.
If you mean a LASER pointer, then the answer is YES. However, the light is concentrated on a very tiny spot, so the panel will NOT generate much. Laser pointers are rated in milliwatts. A typical red laser pointer is rated at maybe 3 milliwatts. So, that is all that will be transferred at MOST. You don't get something for nothing, so the panel MAY put out 3 milliwatts from the laser pointer, but probably less since the solar panel is not 00% efficient. Solar electrical panels rely on sunlight over a large area measured in terms of many square FEET of area. As for driving lamps, the lamps do not care where the power comes from, only that the voltage and current are correct. Most bulbs will work equally well on AC or DC. Solar panels are used to charge batteries, and the batteries are used with an inverter to supply 0 VAC to things like appliances. What you CAN do is use a laser pointer to turn off a photoelectrically controlled light, such as a streetlight, maybe. Many streetlights have a photocell on top which looks at the sky and turns on the light when it is near dark until shortly after dawn. If you can shine a laser on the dome of the photocell, it MAY be bright enough to fool the photocell into thinking it is daylight and turn the streetlight off for a while...
Q: Got a quote for about $K today for solar panels to save me about $00 a month on my electric bill. I was just wondering if anyone had successfully bought and installed their own and how it worked for you?
If you're in San Francisco, then the price of labor is going to be high. It's still legal to install your own, but you'll need to pull a permit, and get an inspection. If you hunt around on the PGE website, they'll guide you as to requirements. Aside from a standing-seam metal roof, the easiest install would be over asphalt shingle. As with any roof penetration, flashing and sealing the holes is critical.
Q: what are solar panels?
Guide okorder
Q: Online stores selling solar photo-voltaic generation kits gives specs indicating the power generation capability of the system. For example, Solar World Grid-Tie Solar Electric System with 245W Panels PV Powered PVP2000 Inverter, .2 to 2.4 kW. This seems to indicate that the system can generate .2 to 2.4 kW. Is that per day? Per month? I'm trying to calculate the return on investment, but can't because I don't know how much power a system such as this will generate in a month.
As Ed said, that .2 kW is an instantaneous rating in bright sun. The way to do this right is to consult the maps here rredc.nrel /solar/old_data/nsr... to find the number of equivalent sun-hours your location gets per day. Select, Average, Annual, Flat plate tilted south at latitude. A map will come up. For northern California, it shows 5 equivalent sun hours per day, for example. If the system is .2 kW, then .2 x 5 = 6.0 kWh of energy the system will generate per day, on average. That takes into account cloudy days, short winter days, long summer days, everything. The 2.4 kW system would give double that, obviously. But that's an example, based on a specific location. Phoenix would do better, Seattle would do worse.
Q: Can solar panels be used for powering a museum or cultural institution?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power a museum or cultural institution. Solar energy is a renewable and sustainable source of power, making it an environmentally-friendly option for museums. By installing solar panels, these institutions can reduce their carbon footprint and lower their energy costs. Additionally, solar power can provide a reliable and consistent source of electricity, ensuring that the museum's operations are not disrupted during power outages or fluctuations in the grid.
Q: How do solar panels affect insurance rates?
Solar panels can generally have a positive impact on insurance rates. While the installation of solar panels may slightly increase the dwelling coverage, the potential savings on electricity bills and the added value to the property can often outweigh any additional costs. Additionally, some insurance companies offer specialized policies and discounts for homes with solar panels, making it a favorable choice for homeowners.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on any type of roof?
Solar panels can be installed on most types of roofs, including flat, sloped, and angular roofs. However, some factors like the roof's orientation, shading, and structural integrity may affect the efficiency and feasibility of installation.
Q: Interested in buying solar panels to save on electric bill.Any government help plans?
I don't believe that there is any help yet.
Q: What is the most powerful solar panel made?
There are various solar farms that run turbine generators that have some rather large arrays. I suspect they'd be in the southwest but i've seen pictures of them covering a few acres. You won't find very large panels because its best to keep the panels small and just have a lot of them. This is because its much easier to have a thousand 0m^3 panels then huge 0000m^3 panel because you achieve best performance when you can align the solar panels to always face the sun. With a huge panel, you would need it to be high off the ground so it can manuver around. Small ones can all be menuvered on a small scale only a few feet off the ground so they can all be pointing towards the sun to gather the most light.
