- Q: why do siberian crane migrate in india?
- The Siberian Cranes nest in western Siberia . During Winter season in Siberia , they migrate to India which is their wintering ground. The migration route stretches for 4000 miles. Their resting place at the time of migration is the Lake Ab-i-Estada in Afghanistan. The Kaladeo Ghana National Park or the Bharatpur National Park has been declared a world heritage site because the Siberian Crane traverses nearly half of the globe to reach it. The Siberian Crane is presently an endangered species. Larger numbers of birds have been hunted down over the years especially when they undertake the perilous journeys across the Himalayas to reach the wet land. They are shot down in Pakistan to be gifted to friends and relatives. This has led to a severe decline in the number of Siberian Cranes in the world. The immediate need of the hour is to provide safety to the Siberian cranes along their migration route. This popular visitor has not been seen in the last two years in India. The last pair of Siberian Cranes which had made the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary their seasonal home in the year 2002 was not seen in the year 2003. Their absence is indeed painful and one of the aims of the Crane foundation is to bring back the Siberian Crane to India.
- Q: Tower crane TC6013A-6-A2, what does "A-6-A2" mean later?
- This is the old saying. The international standard is now used. For example, the QTZ100T.M lifting torque is 980KN.M (kn. Meters). The QTZ100 is similar to the lifting torque of the TC6013. But not the same model.
- Q: I've been making lots of paper cranes lately, thinking I would know exactly what to do with them. In reality, I'm a bit short on ideas... Can you help me with this, because I'd love to find ways to decorate my room with them. I can't really use nails on my walls or ceiling, so I can't do a mobile or randomly string them about.
- Okay - so if you can't string them from the ceiling - than what I would do is buy some round vases/globes, from Pier one or some place like that, and fill them with paper cranes, then set the bowls on your shelves/windowsill/desk/table or other flat surface. I've enclosed some examples below. You can also make a mobile by hanging something like a super strength hook with adhesive. 3M makes them (the same folks who created scotch tape). The adhesive does not damage walls and you can stick them to anything. They can bear up to 30 pounds of weight. Put a few on your ceiling or walls and hang your mobiles from them.
- Q: What is a "crawler crane" and what kinds of jobs is it good for?
- *A crawler is a crane mounted on an undercarriage with a set of tracks (also called crawlers)that provide for the stability and mobility of the crane. Crawler cranes have both advantages and disadvantages depending on their intended use. The main advantage of a crawler is that they can move on site and perform lifts with very little set-up, as the crane is stable on its tracks with no outriggers. In addition, a crawler crane is capable of traveling with a load. The main disadvantage of a crawler crane is that they are very heavy, and cannot easily be moved from one job site to the next without significant expense. Typically, a large crawler must be disassembled and moved by trucks, rail cars or ships to be transported to its next location. Crawler cranes range in lifting capacity from about 40 US tons to 3500 US tons.
- Q: I am making a crane(jib) whatever you call it and I have a concept for the crane itself but not for how I will actually move the camera. I heard wires work but I can not seem to grasp teh concept.* It is a heaver camera by the way*
- On a real camera crane you would press the up and down button that moves the wrist part of it. ( I drove a forklift). If you are doing to yourself you'll have to rely on the elbow movements. I might think about renting a Genie lift. And letting someone be your hands in the thing. Unless you know how to build a fully articulating hydraulic ball-joint?
- Q: Ok so I am now on my laptop in my room, in my bed and I am bursting for the loo, like really bad. I knew before I went to bed there was a crane fly in the hall (outside my room), so I made sure I went to the loo before I went to bed. But me being me I need it again but i have phobia of those dreaded crane flys. I went out and put the light on making sure 2 close the bedroom door, and then it started to fly towards me so I ran back to my room. I need help cause I don't know what to do?I am petrified of them. My fiance would normally move it for me but he is on night shift tonight. The last time this happend I stayed up all night and went to the loo at 7 am when my daughter got up, I don't want to do that again considering it is only 1:44 am over here
- No dude, youre confusing two different species. Daddy long legs- or Harvestmen, as they're known in the UK- are the ones with powerful venom, but fangs too short to bite a human being. Crane flies, which look kind of like a flying daddy long legs, are a species that feed one nectar only. They are not carnivorous, and they don't have fangs, or a stinger, or any other means to defend themselves. The females have a tool on their abdomens for depositing eggs. It looks kind of like a stinger, but it is not one, and can do no harm at all.Daddy long legs-spiders can not fly. Crane flies don't even live long enough to eat. Most of the species of crane flies live long enough to mate, and nothing more. Theres is no reason to fear either species. Oh, and they don't eat mosquitos. That's a myth.
