- Q: Can I fet free solar panels. This site okorder sells a book that tells how to, but I ordered tha book more then a year a go, and in never came. I even sent them a email a day for more then 3 months and never heard back from them. If anyone knows how to get free pannels, please let me know how. A $300.00 a month bill is slowly killing me.
- If you sent payment via the US mail, report them for fraud. Next, solar panels usually have a high upfront cost for the homeowner - but this is usually offset by a tax refund. The amount of refund varies by area. Check out the cost with a local installer - they have the most motivation to know all the tax breaks you can get. Then save for it, and in the mean time switch your bulbs to fluorescents, unplug your coffee pot, computer, VCR, microwave when off, and see if your energy company provides free insulation evaluation services. And reduce your temperature this winter by 2 degrees, and change that furnace filter.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a landfill or waste management site?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a landfill or waste management site. In fact, landfills and waste management sites can provide suitable locations for solar installations due to their large available space and minimal shading. Additionally, installing solar panels on these sites can help utilize otherwise unused land while also providing renewable energy generation and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Q: I'm a student trying to design a mounting structure for solar panels. I'm reading about passive trackers so as to track the sun for optimal energy production; but I am not fully quot;seeinghow it works. Can someone please help explain it to me, or at least send me a link(s) that could help explain it well?THANKS IN ADVANCED!! [and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!]
- It appears to be relying upon a phase change of liquid to gas to liquid to balance the system and return it to the east in the morning.
- Q: I have purchased a 2 volt LED lantern from argos, it comes with a built in 6 volt 4ah sealed acid battery. What I wanted to know is would I be able to charge it using my 6 volt solar panel?
- If it has a 6 volt battery- is it marked 2 volts on an external plug? If so, there is a resistor inside to drop the potential the battery sees. The battery itself could be slipped out and recharged easily from your 6 volt panel. Just determine how much current (in Amps or Milliamps) the panel produces nominally and divide that into 4 and add one fourth of that length of time to make up for system losses. This will tell you how many hours it should charge assuming your starting voltage of the battery is above .5 volts. and the panel is at 3 volts potential or higher. So if your panel puts out amp at 0AM, you would charge for 5 hours. 4 divided by is 4 and one fourth of that is so 4 plus is 5. It is a little more involved than that, but as a rule of thumb. Also do not discharge tha lantern to the point of no light output. LEDs are efficient, but their current will add up. If it is suggest to be able to use the lantern for up to 8 hours on a charge, stick to that value. Lead acid batteries have best longevity when discharged only to 80 percent capacity. Once battery is charged- disconnect from charging source.
- Q: (For a project)I know they are made of silicon, but I want to EVERYTHING they are made of. Ex Metal (What kind)Please tell me everything used from their production to the finished projectThank you
- photograph voltaic panels take power (and in all probability some oil for the plastic) to fabricate, yet that power, and the carbon footprint, is paid for many circumstances over in widespread operation, via the electrical powered energy that the panel generates. The life of the middle photograph voltaic cells is long (there are nonetheless some panels from the 970's that are nonetheless out and dealing), and contemporary panels are oftentimes warranted for 25 years, showing that even the manufacturers have self assurance in thier lifespan. yet whilst it ultimately comes time to eliminate the panels, the aluminum physique is as particularly recycled as the different aluminum, and the tempered, low-iron glass could properly be recycled, too. The plastic substrate is unavoidably solid - it has to stand up to the solar for some years. i do no longer understand what could desire to be achieved with that. The cells themselves are a intense grade of silicon, which has fee on the scrap industry. some panels are no longer made up of silicon - yet lots of the factors could desire to be recycled in a similar fashion. i'm no longer attentive to any intense panels being dumped or discarded at present. they're worth lots, even broken, that some hobbyist or surplus place will purchase them.
- Q: About how much would it cost to purchase and install solar panels for the average American house so that the house can be off the power grid and use the same amount of electricity as it normally does?
- We are installing a 3.3 kWh system on a 2 story house. Really three story if you add in the basement. It will provide about 3/4 of the electric power they use per year. The cost of the complete system installed is in the $26,000 range. A 4.5 kWh system would wipe out their bill and would cost in the $34,000 range installed. But it had too many solar modules to fit on the roof. Now if you are wanting to go off grid in the average American home you would spend about $60,000 easy. Most American family's are very very waste full. Very few even have CFL lighting and leave every light in the house on. I have even known of some that will use a 60 watt night light when it is so easy to put in a CFL or a 4 watt night light. With 4 TV sets running in most homes at the same time a 200 watt stereo system for background noise.. Well we Americans have a long ways to go yet.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a military base or facility?
- Yes, solar panels can definitely be installed on a military base or facility. In fact, many military bases around the world have already adopted solar energy as a means to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and increase their energy independence. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or open fields within the base, providing a sustainable and reliable source of clean energy. The use of solar panels on military bases not only helps to reduce carbon emissions but also enhances the resiliency and security of the base's energy infrastructure.
- Q: I want to build a standalone wifi repeater -- powered by the sun. The problem is how much solar power and how big of a battery?net draw 4.5v @ 0.66A with loadnet draw 4.5v @ 0.60A no loadI'm assuming the best choice would be a 6v battery with a a couple diodes in series to induce ~.5v drop. Then, I need something to charge it -- I found 2v 6w solar chargers in the automotive section of Sears and 6v 2w solar chargers in the marine section of Dick's Sporting Goods. How many solar panels and what capacity batteries should I use? Is this the best method or should I use a voltage regulator and go with 2v batteries?I need this to be as cheap and simple as possible...
- You won't get very far with THAT lash-up. First of all.. WHY would you want to use diodes to drop the voltage.. they DRAW CURRENT and that is something you don't have to spare. That draw of (660 ma) comes out to just under 3 watts. You DO KNOW that you can get that 4.5 Volts by driving a NAIL into the THIRD CELL in a 6 Volt wet cell battery... right? and for what you are doing, you have more current available with a 6 volt battery than a 2 volt battery. Anyway, you could use two 6 Volt batteries and tap them at the 4.5 volt point then tie them in parallel, but you could still use the 6 volt solar panel to charge them. Trying to use an inverter is just an exercise in futility.. With TWO of the LARGEST DEEP CYCLE BATTERIES you can buy at AutoZone running in Parallel and being charged by solar panels.. if you hook a 75 watt inverter to them, they will go flat in about 4 hours of use during the night. This is not rocket science. Back when cars were changing over from 6 volts to 2 volts, I powered up more than one 6 volt car radio off a 2 volt battery... when you grow up as poor as I did.. you get inventive. I later used the same trick on the 24 volt electrical systems the Jeeps were using, to power up clandestine repeaters in places where no repeaters should have been. About 25 years ago I was living in the Denver area and built up a 0 watt 2 meter repeater on a split channel and took it up to Mt. Evans during the summer and hid it in a pile of rocks. I used tone control, so we were the only ones using it and, as I said, It was a split channel.. so it wasn't on a regular repeater channel. That thing was still running when I moved from the Denver area about 3 years later and for all I know, It's still up there on Mt. Evans (find the Brittlecone Pines and look towards that small peak about a mile to the west)
- Q: I can't figure out how to charge a Ni Cd (BD 8V Firestorm) battery directly with a solar panel so I've come up with an alternative which might or might not work. I thought I would connect an inverter (I found a nice 400W for $30) to my trucks battery and plug the BD Firestorm battery charger into the inverter. Then I was thinking I could use a 5W solar panel to trickle charge the truck battery and keep it connected after the Ni Cd is charged to ensure the truck battery is topped off. The truck would not be running during this process. Will this solution work? Is there a better solution?
- image voltaic charger employs image voltaic ability to offer electricity to units or cost batteries. they're oftentimes portable. image voltaic array: electric powered gadget alongside with an excellent array of related image voltaic cells image voltaic Panel is a crew of image voltaic cells arranged right into a panel which would be put in onto a flat floor. The panel captures image voltaic and converts it into DC ability.
- Q: Hello,What do you all think about the future of solar panels and what role they will play in the near future. There is tons of money being dumped into the industry and demand is slowly rising. Also do you have any favorite solar links to get more info about them?
- Well, it's true that solar panels aren't exactly the new invention. However, solar technologies keep improving all the time. Just like computers used to be super rare and hard to get, but right now almost everyone has a PC or a laptop. Same with solar panels, soon they will get a lot more popular. Even people like Bill Gates are interested in solar solutions, here, take a look:
