Q: So I had a scaffold/industrial done about 10 weeks ago, and its been infected at the top hole only for about 3/4 weeks. It has like a little bubble near the hole and sometimes its filled with pus a little bit and sometimes its not. Well I went the doctors about 2 weeks ago and he prescribed me a weeks worth of antibiotics as well as anti-septic cream. So I took the pills for a week and it was clearing up, I was also applying the cream twice a day. But then yesterday I noticed the lump has gotten a little bit bigger. I don't know what to do, should I take it out? But I really don't want to. And plus the doc said to wait up to 3 weeks and if nothings changed to go back and take it out. If I continue to use the cream, will it eventually go? Thanks :): If so, its hypertrohic scarring, a common occurence in cartilaginous piercings caused by too much jewelry movement/improperly fitted jewelry. It can be treated by applying tea tree oil to the bump once or twice a day.

Q: Im 18 years old and maleI have 4 piercings. On my left I have my lobe and a double helix (a type of cartilage piercing). On my right I have a scaffold/industrial. I know I want another piercing on my right ear, but cant decide what to get. Any input is greatly appreciated.: conch would look great and not make it look to cluttered go for it :)

Q: I got my scaffold piercing 6 days ago, with titanium, and it was fine until yesterday.I had a couple of nights out and might have knocked it a few times, but yesterday it was swollen, red, throbbing and very painful. There is no liquid coming from it. It seems to have got worse today.I have been following the aftercare advice and cleaning it several times a day with rock salt solution and (up until yesterday) savlon antiseptic spray. Is it just irritated or is it infected? How long should I wait before I go to the doctor? If it is infected, will I have to take it out or just take antibiotics?Thanks!: it sounds like it's just irritated, if it's infected it will be secreting puss. Have you tried to soak it in the rock salt solution? Soak two cotton balls and put one on each side on the piercing and keep it there for 10 minutes a day. And make sure the antiseptic spray has zero alcohol in it because that can irritate it and prolong healing. Try this for a few days and if it's not getting better then go see your doctor.

Q: hi, ive had my scaffolding for a little over a month now, and one of the holes has started going really weird. on the top, its swollen and sore on one side, and on the bottom, its the same but on the opposite side. not sure if its infected ir being rejected by ear, which ive heard can happen. i would like to keep it in if possible,as i love it. any help welcomed :) thanks xx: Normally if there is an infection it is very very sore, red, warm to the touch, and secretes yellow or green pus. It sounds like you might also be possibly forming a keloid, but most likely it is just irritated. Continue with your sea salt soaks (hopefully thats what your doing) and go down to your piercer and have them check it out if you get too worried about it.
