- I don't know about cars. However, KYMCO makes a scooter that is reliable and on par with Honda and Yamaha but only costs half as much. I would say it depends on the brand name as there are many cheap chinees scooters that I wouldn't buy.

- A machinist is a person who operates a machine that mills, grinds, and otherwise alters metal, not a mechanic. I'm not sure about the Navy but, the Marines' equipment drivers are trained to do the daily and minor maintenance on the equipment they drive. For instance, an LAV or tank driver will do his own routine maintenance. If it requires major maintenance it is taken to a maintenance depot where mechanics trained on different areas do the repairs.

- That's an interesting, and disturbing thought. I wonder if they should be allowed to smoke cigarettes, as a dropped cigarette can cause a serious fire. Pumping fuel, too, in fact any activity involving potentially dangerous substances, the operation of machinery, and even holding small children should become proscribed acts, immediately. This is a serious safety issue!

- Hmmm, this is like asking how having a power cable be used to run a TV. A tv can't run without it. It's there are a lot of other things/factors/processes that enable the tv to run, but the power cord is still mandatory. Likewise for atp/adp recycling. It's not really used to run the machinery. It's a mandatory part of the metabolism of a cell. When ATP us used, energy is released from the ATP molecule. The byproducts of the reaction are reused. You can sort of think of them as rechargeable batteries.
