- ok what you wanna do is thaw your turkey and inject it at least 24 hours before your going to cook itand soak the pellets in water 6 hours if possible to ensure that they don't burnso you baste the turkey put in the aluminum pan get your grill ready place most of the pellets in aluminum foil or get a small aluminum pan you will have to watch them and replace when they look really dry you don't want them to burn keep grill at 230 for 30 min or when you have a good amount of smoke leaving grill and put turkey on .keep your heat low 230 at 30 min per pound the idea is to slowly cook it so the flavor soaks inuse a thermometer to keep temp right and make sure your turkey is completely cooked before removing also remember to occasionally baste but don't over baste you will have a turkey no one will eat because its overly smokey tasting good luck happy thanksgiving.
