- Q: Can YOUHOOS at Yahoos give me an idea where I can find a sheetof heavy clear/ or even transparent plastic to put over my window thatnot like this cheap garbage I used from Frost King at home depot.. The last stuff came from a roll and was heavy duty and I don't need a roll of it, I'm just drawing a blank here. And this boxed up stuff sold in cheap discount stores really is garbage 1 mil junk.. Oh, and yes, this is their outdoor stuff , not the shrink indoor kit.... The window is about 4 ft x 6 ft..... 1950 era.....(hence the need for plastic ). I've got a few smaller as well... Thank You hoos....
- I am not sure why everyone is saying things like plastic and duct tape! I am sure that would not make for a beautiful awakening and definitely not much of an eye candy from inside or out! Like Carol Q was saying, you can purchase caulking, that is all good. However, you can also purchase rolls of window and door insulation strips. Works great! You can also purchase a spray bottle of foam insulation for your outlets or any cracks that you feel a draft coming from. If your windows are really outdated, you may have to go with plastic OR invest in one window at a time (if ya need) for better/thicker windows. Insulation above your room and around you room in the walls is also very important if you really want the freezing (lol) to end. Good Luck and stay warm!! ( keep your robe, hairdryer, and or electric blanket in bed at all times. lol jk.)
- Q: I just had my 30 yr old storm windows replaced with nice double pain, double glazed, argon filled windows in November. HUGE IMPROVEMENT! But now that i am used to comfort level and energy savings that these windows have made to my home. I find myself looking for the tiny amounts of cool air that penetrates into my home. And I still have this habit of wanting to put plastic over my windows. Do you think adding the plastic now would be overkill? Or would the energy savings still out way the cost of the plastic this first week on January?
- sit back and relax. if you have extra money you want to spend, i cuold use new windows in my house. you may want to find a hobby to take your mind off puting plastic over everything. HAVE A GREAT '08!

- Q: I have yucky shades on my windows dead bugs all around my windows. They are old windows so I bought an insulation kit to do the windows. It says I will need to blow dry.What if I don't want to touch the disgusting shades my landlord said be would replace when I moved in ? I am kind of stuck living here so until I can find a place a roommate, I want to seal the windows. shades completely. They have poor insulation a handful bugs come in every hour.Do you think the plastic will work without shrinking it with a blowdryer? There are slice webs around my window so I am disgusted.

- The plastic did not seal correctly to the tape. Press all the way around the taped area and then use the dryer. I install this product every year and have had no problems.
- Q: Every fall we put plastic on the outside of our windows to provide added insulation during the winter. The plastice we use is said to be clear but isnt. It always ends up that we cant see out the windows all winter. It really sucks. Does anyone know of an insulating plastic that is trully clear and will allow us to actually see out the windows?
- Use pure clear garbage bags and double sided tape on the inside of the windows, only cut out the center part of the bag or sheet, and tape the loose part down what it will look like is a picture frame, leaving you your window to look out but smaller. The part that leaks around a window is the frame and where the glass meets the frame,

- Very little. It is the trapped air inside insulation that makes it work. If the windows and or frames are insulated, then yes. The problem is, the gas used to insulate windows is not a do it yourself thing.

- I need to replace my 1993 Mazda Miata soft top with plastic rear window to a soft top with a glass window. If a soft top with a glass window is installed, how would the top fold down considering there is glass window or will you ever be able to fold the soft top? A plastic window can easily easily but I don't see how it would. Thanks.

- How is the plastic attached? What is it attached to? Are trouble shooting ideas available? I've had problems with the window flashing's sweating, causing the tape and/or adhesive to fail. Try attaching the plastic to wooden strips and inserting the framed plastic in the window area. Another option is a staple gun, however, that can create problems of a different nature. Try contacting your local hardware store for ideas, suggestions and possibly solutions offered by other customers.
- Q: rail that holds window fell, i took apart and see thta two lil plastic white bushings was broken. but cant seem to find it online or at parts store... there really aint many junk yards around here. do i really have to buy a whole door kit to get this fixed????
- you can order the parts separate from a dealer,that's the best place to get those at,they don't cost but a few bucks,and are well worth it,good luck.
