- Q: Can YOUHOOS at Yahoos give me an idea where I can find a sheetof heavy clear/ or even transparent plastic to put over my window thatnot like this cheap garbage I used from Frost King at home depot.. The last stuff came from a roll and was heavy duty and I don't need a roll of it, I'm just drawing a blank here. And this boxed up stuff sold in cheap discount stores really is garbage 1 mil junk.. Oh, and yes, this is their outdoor stuff , not the shrink indoor kit.... The window is about 4 ft x 6 ft..... 1950 era.....(hence the need for plastic ). I've got a few smaller as well... - Q: Hello all, for several years I have been having to buy replacement Jeep soft top (plastic) windows to replace the scratched ones. The last couple of times I have been fairly careful in not scratching them but I have noticed that even without scratches there seems to be some type of buildup that prevents it from looking clear and shinny as when they are new. I have tried using all sorts of soft soaps and even dish washing soap thinking it would take the build up off. Well, not luck. Here is my question, does anyone know of a product that they have actually used to keep Jeep soft top windows looking shiny and clear? Thanks,

- Q: I am moving with my family into a house that has large plastic skylights. The trouble is that the former tenant told me that a they are very thermally conductive and contribute to astronomical heating and cooling bills. I spoke with a contractor about it and he said tinting would be the only way to go because normal plastic insulation film wouldn't stick on the windows as they are themselves plastic. But I don't want to tint the windows and lose the lovely light. Does anybody think the plastic film would work or have any other ideas? Thanks for any help you can give!
- You could get window insulation kits that have a sheet of plastic that you can mount to the frame of the inside frame of the window with their double sided tape. They are shrunk by using a hair dryer, this will create a dead air space between the window and the plastic to reduce your heating costs. A roller curtain can be mounted just outside the window frame to reduce the heat that comes in with the sun to help reduce the cooling costs in the summer.

- Sounds like you are in an old house with single pane windows. Go to Home Depot and talk to them about weather stripping your windows and doors. Check all the outlets on outside walls too. They make an insert you can put under the cover plate to stop drafts. You might look into the plastic that you heat up and it forms a tight seal on the windows. Insulated drapes would help a lot as well. Good Luck!!
