Q:What type of plastic are car windows made out of? (10 PTS BEST ANSWER)?
Car windows are made of glass.
Q:Yo, i am a proud owner of a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. I was wondering if it is possible to tint the plastic windows using a self tint kit found at an auto store. Ive been looking for the answer online and can only find tutorials on how to use the tint on regular glass car windows. Someone please help me out before i buy the tint and try it myself and end up ruining my windows. thanks

Q:We live in an old, very poorly insulated house, and it's very drafty/cold during the winter. We've tried two-sided insulating tape that you put in the window sills, caulk strips that you put around the frame, etc. and none of it works. Is it worth the money to buy the plastic that you can put over the outside of your windows? The draft seems to be coming from where the window itself meets the sill, but also around the perimeter of the window (where the edging/molding is attached to the wall). I've read a few articles online about quot;how toquot; install plastic, but they all say that the plastic comes in kits and you need to attach it with the included double sided tape to your wooden window frame. our house is brick and there's not much of a frame outside. What little wood there is has been painted over many times, and I doubt tape would stick to it. Should I try to do it anyway? Is it worth the cost?
Carefully remove the decorative molding from around the window.(inside) Then either stuff fiberglass insulation in the crack between the window and the jam. Or use the foam insulation in the can. Then replace the molding. A lot of people put plastic on their windows using staples
Q:There is a tear in my drivers side window at the bottom where the plastic is covered by the fabric, but the fabric is coming lose and the tear is starting to show and open itself to elements. Also, this window zipper only closes and opens one way, going the other way the teeth will not connect, any ideas? Also, there is a larger 4-5 inch tear in my rear plastic window right under where the zipper releases the plastic from the fabric. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
There are some kits available for making repairs for clear plastic, you probably will not find them at an auto supply, but, at a place where supplies are sold for any inflatable items, air mattress, floats, etc. These clear repair kits come with an adheres and once in place it is there to stay. On the large tare on your back rear windshield, you may want to place a repair sheet on both sides. Also you may consider sewing it with clear fishing line. As far as you zipper is concern, you can replace the zipper pull, this may or may not solve your problem. Hope that some of the above is of some help!
Q:I figure that the little windows are plastic, not paper, and shouldn't be included with the paper products in the bins at the recycling centers. Am I right or wrong? It takes a lot of extra time to sort through all the junk mail in order to discard these envelopes.
It depends where you live. Where I live we don't have to sort our recyclables at all. Just put them in a special plastic blue box that the city gives us.
Q:a$$hole, right? and what are they officially called, so i can look them up?
If okorder store around you, you can order of their website and get it sent to their store and not pay any shipping at all. Also, you might want to try Craigslist. sometimes people are selling them cheap on there to get rid of them for one reason or another.
Q:It is a clean tear- about 2 inches. I was wondering if there is anything I can use to glue it back together, or if a mechanic/garage would be able to fix it?
you can try glueing it back together with super glue or somthing, but other than that, you will need a new window. Do you car what it looks like? the glue wont hold forever
Q:The city requires me to separate paper and plastic into two different bins. I have been tearing the plastic windows out of envelopes (you know the kind you get from businesses) before sticking them into the paper bin. Do I even have to do this? And if I do, can I put the plastic window part I rip out into the plastic recycling bin?
Generally, recycling authorities will tell you stuff like this if its important. I would just put the whole envelope in the paper recycling. My authority (Edinburgh) doesn't accept envelopes at all, though, because of the glue!
Q:I put up fly nets with adhesive velcro strips (were included in the package) on my plastic window frames. That was last year. The glue on the velcro has now turned to dust (literally) leaving dark, pinkish black stains on the white plastic where the sun hit the velcro. Is there any way to remove or bleach these stains? I tried chlorine but that didn't work.
You can get rid of the glue residue with Goo Gone. Wipe on. Let sit for about a half an hour. Then scrub with a plastic dish scrubber and wipe off with wet paper towels. Good luck. -
Q:Have very little budget to work with, paid Marshall Construction of Kalamazoo to do the roof, haven't seen him since (Even with the contract), windows are in really poor condition and need to be replaced but don't have the funds to do it (Lost job like everyone else in Michigan). I have almost a zero budget to do this thanks to people like Marshall construction. Any suggestions how to get this 900 sqft home to stay warm without the furnace always working?
Never pay a contractor to do the work before the job is done. If they say they need cash upfront to get the materials, that should be a red flag that they do not have an account anywhere to get supplies. Yes, plastic on the windows helps tremendously if done properly. It keeps the air out. You will notice a big difference.I put an electric blanket on my bed, so I am able to turn the heat way back at night.I always try to wear warm socks and sweats around the house when I am home.If it is real cold outside, I make sure I leave the doors open under my kitchen and bathroom sinks to help the pipes stay warm. Close any outside vents or insulate basement windows. My house is only 900 sq ft also, and my gas budget is $38 a month.Keep warm.
