Q: I have a 16 month old girl who has her first ear infection now. She has it in both ears and still has it even after her medicine was done. We have an appointment with an ear, nose and throat specialist for this Thursday, and I will be asking him the following questions.. But I also wanted to hear from people that went through this with their child. I understand that ear tubes probably won't be necessary because this is her first time with an ear infection. What exactly are ear tubes? How are they put in? What are the pros and cons of having them? I have heard that in the long run, they can cause more damage than good. And how did you soothe your little one while they were having difficulty sleeping at night? Thanks!!
I have 4 children, 2 of mine had ear infections at least 6 times before age 2yrs and never got tubes in their ears. There are certain things that contribute to ear infections. Does your daughter drink fluids when laying down? If she has to go to bed with a cup you will want to prop her mattress up using pillows or a comforter. Just enough so she isn't laying flat, but not trying to sleep sitting up either. Does she take in a lot of Dairy products? You can try soy milk instead of cows milk. Veggie cheese instead of dairy cheese. Organic yogurt instead of dairy. These can be found more affordable at your local farmers market. Wal-mart and grocery stores tend to be a little more expensive. Also, when you wash her hair you can try putting cotton balls in her ears, just don't push them deep inside so you will be able to get them back out easily. Prevention is where I think you will benefit from your line of questioning for the doctor! More than likely they will give you some drops to put in her ears since the anti-biotic didn't cure the problem. Best of luck. Take care
Q: I still have the fork tubes mounted to the bike. I have removed the cap, spacer tube, washer, spring, damper bolt (from the bottom of the tube) and removed the damper and short spring. I have pried the dust cap (rubber seal) and slid it all the way up. There is a piece of plastic? or nylon? that is blocking the circlip(I assume). I do not have a manual for this bike but I can not get one for a few days, so the help would be great!!
Just pry the plastic ring up (nothing is holding it). Perhaps it's stuck to the foam ring underneath it. After you remove the circlip, the the fork tube and lower will have to be pulled apart. The fork seal is in very tight. Hold the tube in one hand and the lower in the other hand. Push the forks together. Yank them apart with force (a bushing inside of the forks will hit against the seal like a slide hammer). They won't come apart in one pull. Push them - in - OUT -in - OUT - in - OUT

Q: It needs to be a bit smaller than a pringle tube, min 2mm thickness bout 30cm length maybe 5cm diameter. I need to be able to seal both ends and its got to be sturdy not squashy and preferably shatter proof.Ive seen mailing tubes and poster tubes even baseball bat tubes but there all either too big or come in packs I only need 3...can anyone help? P.s im in the U.K
I have found you two suppliers of tubes, the second wall thickness isn't what you want but they are complete containers with caps. The first supplier supplies polycarbonate tubing in lengths and this is a very hard wearing clear plastic that you can cut to size with a normal hacksaw and then try and find end caps, or you can ask an engineering shop to turn six end caps for you and cut a groove in to fit an o-ring seal. The first option will be cheaper. Hard wearing isn't cheap.
