- I always wash anything new before we use or wear it. Washing removes any chemicals that might be left over from the manufacturing process that might be irritating. Personally, I'm sensitive to the sizing (makes the fabrics stiffer) that they use in some things and I wash everything rather than itch. The fibers will be much nicer, softer, fluffier in the sheets if you wash them before use also. The comforter should be dried on low heat with a couple of tennis balls (clean, please) in the dryer. The tennis balls will help fluff up the stuffing in the comforter. And you can partially dry the comforter and then hang it outside also.

The store had the benefit of having small pieces of all types of acrylic and plastic for sale, at reasonable prices. Check your phone book under manufactuers or plastics, give them a call and ask if they have a retail store. The scraps I got were good size and only about $4-$8.
