Can I have the strings changed from steel to nylon???: You can easily switch from steel to nylon strings or vice versa. You can buy the strings and string the guitar yourself or I'm sure you can get it done in any normal guitar shops. I've gone from nylon to steel and it hasn't affected my guitar at all. :D

I'd like to use it as stock for a knife blade, but would like to know the specs so I can determine if it is suitable and, if so, how best to heat treat it.Thanks.PS: I know it isn't stainless, but that leaves a lot of other steel types.: 1018 mild steel. Not suitable for bladesmithing. If you can't heat treat find an old file, grind it out (keep it cool) and put in an oven 400F. Modern car/truck springs are 5160 med chrome steel, a good blade quality steel and forgiving on the anvil/heat treat.

Are you hoping to gain more low end power and thus be able to race from 0-60 faster? If thats the case, Id go with aluminum and a 520 conversion on the chain. You WILL notice the difference in how fast the bike builds steam, because it will be easier for the engine to rotate the rear wheel having a lighter chain and sprocket set. Of course, this will wear out faster than steel - but the real question is, are you interested in going faster, or saving money? Speed aint cheap. Either pay for it, or stick with steel. Be careful going up three teeth on the rear without getting a new chain as well - your current chain may not have enough slack left in it...
