- When it comes to any kind of pvc always use a primer and a glue. Pvc uses solvent weld joints or mechanical joints. First prime the fitting and the pipe then use the glue on both as well. Insert the pipe into the fitting and give it a 1/4 turn then hold it together until it stops pushing out. On the mechanical fittings for PVC never use teflon tape. Doing so expands the threads and makes it cross thread in the fitting. Instead use a product like rectorseal pipe joint compound. I use rectorseal 5 but thats just my preference. Doing these two things should eliminate the majority of your leaks if not all.
