- Q:My 99 Ford Escort has been making sloshy water sounds and whistling sounds on the passenger side of the car when I run the A/C. Will running the a/c without fixing it permanently damage anything? If I can't locate the drain to unblock and have to take it into the mechanic, how much would I be looking at? Thanks!
- Bigrick has it right. But use a coathangar for the wire, and fold it in half. Use the rounded end to snake the drain tube out. That way if you do go too far in or slip or whatever, you won't put a hole in the evaporator core. It is extremely thin for heat transfer, and is easily punctured. The rounded end of a folded coathangar will not damage it in anyway, and is safe. Just watch for the waterfall that will come rushing out!!!!!!
