Q: If so, I need to rewrite the tiles. To the kind of wax after you can see the kind of wax, do not know what should be bought? Thanks for reminding!
Waxing is one of the methods of porcelain fake, floor maintenance of a measure. To the floor wax can decontamination light, increase the appearance, but also pest control, moisture, anti-cracking, reduce the outside of the floor of the corrosion and wear and tear to extend the life of the floor, floor maintenance is necessary measures. Can be water wax, solid wax, liquid wax, natural wax, spray wax. There are several steps to wax the floor: Selection of the market supply of floor wax on the white, light yellow, brown and so on, the user can choose according to the color of their own floor color can also be left to burn the candle to cut the candle, add the same amount of turpentine, boiled water , So that the candle melting, stirring into shoe-like, can be used for local wax, but the use of a little heat. After wiping the wax, so that the floor fully absorbed, completely dry, with a soft cloth on the floor to wipe back and forth until the smooth translucent so far.
Q: i have an area of tile covering one corner of my bedroom in my rented flat - will wallpaper stick to it?
Wallpaper Over Tile
Q: The tile is attached to sheetrock and I don‘t want to damage the sheetrock by ripping off the old tile.
I definitely wouldnt recommend tiling over tile. Thats asking for trouble. It would be much better in the long run to just pull up the tile and sheetrock. Maybe you can jigsaw the part of the sheetrock where the tiles are at that way you can salvage what sheetrock you can. Then re-sheetrock where the tiles were at and tile away. To tile over tile is just bad work and you would probably have to do it anyway. Might as well do it right the first time and get it overwith. =)
Q: I was cleaning a house today, and I accidentally dropped a few drops of bleach on a earth colored ceramic tile. The lady wants me to fix it, but the local carpet cleaners/tile guys want to charge me too much. Is there a way to repaint the tile? Or to strip away the bleach?
Tell us what the tile is made out of, it's obviously not a ceramic tile (bleach has no effect on ceramic tile other than to clean it). ------------------ Read the edit. A real Saltillo tile is a glazed tile. Bleach would have no effect except to clean it. She has knock off, crap tiles and it isn't your fault. There is no way to strip away bleach. What's done is done. She bought junk, she installed junk, and she got junk results. Tell her to go to hell.
Q: I need to remove several tiles for repair and replace the tiles with as little damage as possible
The first thing to do is stop hitting the tile with a hammer. I feel it is a far better idea to remove the cement board and tile all at the same time. You want to start removing tile where the ceramic tile ends and a different flooring material, such as carpet or hardwood flooring, begins. Do not try to start this job in the middle of the ceramic tile floor. for other information you can check my source site
Q: We are thinking of putting nonporous wall tile on walls in our kitchen ... even above the stove. The tile there may get some splatter from cooking so I‘m wondering how difficult is it to clan a nonporous tile? I am assuming it is fairly easy, but would love to hear what the community thinks.
Nonporous tile is very easy to clean. You can remove grease and grime with regular dishwashing liquid...just a drop on a clean sponge. Scrub with this and wipe with a clean wet rag. I think you'll like the tiles. Nonporous tiles are a piece of cake to keep clean. -
Q: I‘ve seen on many different DIY shows that you can get used tiles that are still in good condition (from a certain place, I just can‘t seem to remember the word) to use in your projects.
Most tile stores throw out tiles every week. They throw out sample boards and broken tiles and generally you can go dumpster diving and pick up quite a few. Some stores will give them to you if you ask. I used to work at a tile store and we threw out tons of tiles all the time. The large stores like Home Depot sometimes have rules that they won't give anything broken away or even sell it but it's worth asking because they're all different. You may be able to find a Habitat Re-Store that has some as well. When they tear out old houses they often recycle rather than toss the items.
Q: The previous owner of my house did not correctly install tile in my bathroom. There is a thick grout line along the bathtub, and when I apply a good amount of pressure on a tile (full bodyweight), I can hear the grout grinding against the tub. I know the right thing to do is replace the tile but I have plenty of other home projects to do before we sell the house. Would it be acceptable to saw out the grout along the tub, refill it with new grout, then caulk? Would this at least fix the grinding noise I hear?
DIY doc is correct, but I would add that if this condition has been there for a while, there is the possibility that the floor under the tub is rotted from getting wet everytime some took a shower. I recently had a simular problem in a kitchen of a friend. When I pulled up the tile the floor was so bad that I could stick a screw driver through it with little difficulty. Pulling up the rotted floor boards i discovered that the sub-floor was rotted also. After a little investigating I found a leak in a water line going under his dishwasher. His wife never told him because she thought she was using the dish washer incorrectly. (yes, she is blonde) We had to replace all the flooring in the kitchen
Q: My wall tiles has been for more than 20yrs owned by first owner. Due to limited budget,i have not replaced them when i bought over as 2nd owner, but have done a coat of spray paint on it thru contractor, Now after 5 yrs, some of these spray paint are coming off, any suggestion what i can do , i do not want to hack the wall and replace new wall tiles very costly, someone suggest buying bathroom tiles stickers on those tiles with paint coming off.. anyone with better suggestion on DIY ..plse help---
With all due respect, and after having installed multiple thousands of sq. ft. of tile, and applied thousands of gallons of paint, NEVER TO TILE. It's essentially glass. I see dozens of Q's asking, and as many answers stating it can be done. When I'm asked Can I? my response is usually Certainly I add, that one might not be satisfied with the result. In your case your options are few, now that the tile is already painted. Obviously touch up can be the first more economical of any choice. I wouldn't take a contract to paint tile, nor would I to install any peel and stick type of plastic. You could do a tub/shower enclosure over. You could use melamime or plastic sheet stock to cover. Without knowing your commitment to the house, or how long you intend to be there. With no offense in 5 years of ownership perhaps replacing might have been saved for. Just one opinion, but at some point, if the house was mine, and I intended to remain, I'd be pulling the old tile, adding concrete backer board, and re-do the bathroom. Steven Wolf
Q: i need help putting up counter tops and backsplashes.(tile)
Yes you do get tile cement that will stick to smooth surfaces. You can all so rough the surface up with a coarse sandpaper. You do get a bonding liquid that you apply before you put the tile cement it helps with the bonding. Just make sure the counter top isn't flexible because that can cause problems All so make sure when you fill the tile joins with grout that it fills it good and make sure your grout is water resistant
