- Q: so i bought tile but not the bull nose end pieces cause they did not have them for that tile. I tiled all the way out to the edge of the counter and now need a way to finish the edge. I have seen wood edges but what is this called and how do you do it? does it butt up against the tile of does it go over? is a wet tile saw supposed to leave ugly, chipped edges? bought a Brand new blade and it did not help.
- The are several types of wood counter edges . Each will fit flat up to the edge of the tile, There is one type that you can get at most home improvement centers that do go up and over the edge of the tile. One other possibility is the metal or plastic edging. This is usually installed on the top tile and its over hung and you put another pc of tile on the edge. You might be able to use a decorative strip of tile on the edge if you can find one that is the same width as you need. Some one mentioned the V type ceramic trim pc, these need to be put on during installation since they partially set on the top of the counter. As far as a saw blade, new blades are not supposed to chip tile so theres a couple of reasons why this may occur. The blade was on back wards, a bearing was going out in the saw itself and causing a wobble. Chip in the blade itself so minor you can t see it. The type of blade. Did you get a segmented blade or a continuous rim type? I ve never liked the segmented blades, can cause chipping on some types of tiles or if you pushed it through to fast. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: hello! if i have a connected dining room/kitchen and the kitchen has ceramic tile (that is old) and the dining room has carpet, can i just rip up the carpet and install vinyl tile over the ceramic then over the sub-floor without any issues?
- You will probably run into a height issue. The carpet and ceramic tile generally have the same heights. When you tear up the carpet the pad and carpet thickness add up to the same height as the tile. The vinyl tile is usually very thin and if you just place it over the ceramic tile and try to go directly into the other areas, it will drop and create problems. Unfortunately the only way to get around that is to remove the old ceramic tile.
- Q: What supplies would you need to install Ceramic Tile to a kitchen floor.
- Tile adhesive Tile grout Nothced adhesive trowel Grout float Tile snips Wet saw
- Q: are tiles get really dirty fast and i tried everything and i cant get them to stay white could i use bleach?
- Clean your bathroom tiles with a soft cloth or mop using pH neutral cleaning solution. Always wipe off any spills immediately as they happen. Never, ever clean this floor with vinegar, as you will destroy the finish. Tile specific cleaning products are available.I recommend you Lustro Italiano Cleaner and Polish which is specifically designed and PH balanced for tile Surfaces. Compared to other polishes and cleaners, it creates a deeper longer lasting shine. you can find it in my source site.
- Q: dont know how much to charge to install tile backsplash on kitchen wall with 100sq/ft, please let me know am new and started in this business??
- It depends on whether you have experience installing tile backsplash. It will take you a lot longer than the professional. It also depends on how it is laid and if it is all one color and cuts and miters. It's not as easy as one thinks. It's where you start and plan to finish that is very important. The counter top at the back where it meets the cabinet must be level. If you haven't done this before then hire someone to assist you and go on line to get some information before you start. If you give the information to a tile dealer, he can tell you about how long it will take for the job. Decide what you need to charge an hour and add a couple of hours for clean-up or to for longer time. Jo Ann
- Q: Not sure it it‘s mold/mildew ot the sealer stripping off. I‘ve used Tilex but it didn‘t work. Even scrubbed it with a stiff brush. Anyone know what this film is and how to get it off?
- Are these tiles applied directly to a concrete floor that sits on the ground? If so, it sounds like efflorescence, where salt moves from the ground into the floor and then through the tile appearing as a white film on the surface of the tile (it happens through basement walls and if bricks are placed on the ground). Scrubbing may not be enough. You may have to check at your local hardware store for a sealer for your tiles or a cleaner strong enough to prevent the film from forming again.
- Q: Dongpeng tiles and Europe Shennuo which cost-effective

- Q: I want to know if it‘s necessary to use any special underlayment, or any additional steps required to successfully lay ceramic tile over a wood plank floor. Thanks!
- Yes you can, if in good condition. If you have hardwood over planks, then it won't move anymore than having cement board over planks will. 1.5 inches of wood in excellent condition doesn't have enough bounce to bother tile. Cement board is overkill in most jobs. And not that great of one in the first place. On the flip side, If it is not an overkill, then it probably isn't enough. Any tile that goes over the seams of the cement board, is at high risk for cracking. Tile in the center of cement board is very safe. Mine you if the joists aren't strong enough, it won't matter what the sub floor is or how many layers of cement board you have, you can't do tile. If the floor moves a 1/16th of an inch when 300 pounds is set in one spot, then you have to reinforce or replace the joists, nothing else will fix it. This is how most plank floors fail. Old floors often are built with 2x6 lumber spanning 10 feet. And then there is the new technology: Tile membranes. Cement board harden the floor so it doesn't move. Tile membranes create a floating layer for the tile to sit on. As long as the floor doesn't move more than an 1/8 at the extreme, the tile won't crack on top of a tile membrane. Tile membranes cost about 1.00 to 1.80 US dollars a square foot. The basic membrane is 1/8 of an inch thick. Due to price most tile installers have rarely or never used it, so be prepared to see skeptics. common membrane brands: Schluter?-DITRA is the favorite of TV shows like Holmes on Homes and is sold at home depot among other places. Homelux is sold at Menards
- Q: would it be to hard for me to do by myself and is there an adhesive that I put under the tile?
- The okorder for eco-friendly home decor products and tips!
- Q: Have a tiled half wall that I dont like, and as I neither know how to remove tiles or if how to drill through a tile can anyone help?
- You just get a chisel and a hammer and pry them from the wall. If they are on concrete, then you use a really big chisel and hammer. *The sheetrock may come down with the tile.
