- Direct lighting in photography and art is when the source of light is uninterrupted while illuminating a subject. Indirect lighting is reflected off of another surface. When properly controlled or channeled, indirect lighting can provide a softer finish on the subject matter, but could also reduce the detail somewhat. Direct lighting, just the reverse, can make the detail more graphic, but then will also reveal imperfections more readily. It all depends upon the goal of the artist or photographer as to how to display a given project.
- Q: Cds light sensors=LDR light sensors?are they 100% same?
- Cadmium Sulphite light sensors are a sub type type of Light Dependent Resistor. There's bound to be other materials that get used in LDRs with their own quirks/specifications. So how they are used will be the same,but circuits will need to cope with difference in component parameters. eg take the fairly standard is it dark circuit that uses an LDR as one leg of a voltage divider, and uses an op-amp to compares the output of that potential divider to a reference voltage. if the parameters of the LDR change, the fixed resistor (on the voltage divider), and/or reference voltage needs changed. Same would happen if you change to a larger or smaller LDR. NB photovoltaic sensors *are* different.
- Q: In my book, it says that light consists of electric and magnetic fields. These fields are caused by the motion of charged particles in the source of the light. So what causes the wavelength and frequency present in visible light? Will light not oscillate in a vacuum? I don't understand... Someone please clear this up for me!
- Light is electromagnetic radiation, made up of photons, which can be described as a pair of alternating electric and magnetic fields. In other words, light is made up of light, and is not made up of other components. The alternating nature of these fields is what determines the frequency of the light, and that, plus the speed of light, determines the wavelength of the light. Light propagates in a vacuum. It does not require a medium for tranmission (as air serves for sound transmission). While the movement of charges generates electromagnetic radiation, the propagation of electromagnetic radiation does not depend on the presence of anything.
- Q: What do the side marker lights on cars do and how do u turn them on??
- Not quite sure what you mean by side marker lights, but sidelights are a setting on the headlight control stick and running lights are on all the time when the engine is running. Cars with running lights often don't have sidelihgts. The purpose is purely visability. Running lights were developed for countries where visability is often less than perfect, and are actually quite bright. Side lights merely mark the edge of the car.
- Q: why does flourescent light use less energy?
- Fist off neon lights work by passing an electrical current through the gas Neon (Ne on periodic table of elements) that is sealed in a gas tight container. Now when the electrical current is passed through the light the electrons jump from different energy levels, which emits energy in the form of light in different colors. You see each element, for instance Hydrogen, Neon, Lithium, etc. emits its own special color when energy weather it be from electricity or even heat. Your second question...: A Fluorescent light uses less energy because they are filled with mercury which is a liquid metal that takes less energy to conduct electricity because it is both a metal and a liquid. - Q: Do i need a light on my tank which is used to house fry till they grow, my local pet store has a light that can go in perfect for my small breeding tank, but what do lights do (sorry if this sounds stupid thing to ask) Do they just light up the tank or do they heat it? - High speed cameras are able to see lightning form. Lightning is not light. Lightning is the air transformed into a plasma state so that it can carry a charge between the clouds and the ground. Since matter cannot be faster than light, light is faster than lightning (lightning is still matter, not light).
