- Creditors do not have direct power to freeze bank accounts. They have to take you to court and win a judgement first. To be absolutely safe, if you have any significant amount of money in a bank account, pull it out in cash and put that in a safe or safe deposit box. It really wouldn't hurt that much as bank savings account rates earn close to 0% anyway.

As far as taken 277, it depends what for. If it is to pay legitimate fees, yes they can collect the funds. As far as suing, you probably could, but all you would be eligible for is the 26.90, the 35.00 fees that were caused by it and any filing costs for the suit. Not worth it probably. If its truly illegitimate activity the bank will pursue fraud charges
