- Of course it's OK to use a laptop for more than 3 hours. Who said that it wasn't? Does it say that in your user manual? I think not. Apparently all of the superstitious laptop owners come on Yahoo! Answers at 9PM (GMT-5). I use my work laptop constantly and my personal laptop almost as much. Neither has had any problems related to nearly constant use. All you have to do is make sure that you don't block the ventilation holes in the side or bottom of the laptop so that it doesn't overheat, and you're good to go. Basically, don't lay a laptop on a soft object like a bed or a couch or you'll risk thermal damage to the laptop. As long as you keep it on a hard surface like a table top, your laptop will last for years.

- It depends on what slot it goes into, if you have a PCI Express or PCI slot it would fit into then more than likely it would work. I have mixed and matched graphic cards and haven't had a problem, I put a NVIDIA GeForce graphics card into an emachines computer, intel chipset and it works flawlessly so just know what slot it goes into. I build my desktop from the ground up literally and I mixed and matched on it as well and it works GREAT!

- Do not take it to Geek Squad. they will either screw it up worse or just send it back to HP. Search in your area for a shop that can do laptop repairs. Most area have one or two such places nearby. Ask them to examine the laptop and give you an estimate on the repair costs. I have the same model and it's over two-and-a-half years old, so if the repairs are significant, it might cost you too much to even bother. Then you should consider a new laptop. You might have to pay a small fee for the diagnosis and estimate. You could also send it back to HP, but you'll wind up paying for whatever they do.

- Yes they, they keep you laptop cooler and chances are that when used regurlaly they make them last longer. However, they are not so much effective if you only use you laptop for like less than an hour at at time, they work best for long times, like all day at school and work. A bit pricey, but try to buy a quiet one if you can.
