- How long are you using it? How old is it? I used to have a pretty old IBM laptop that would overheat every 30 minutes, we got a fan that you stick underneath it to keep it cool and it would run much longer. Laptops shouldn't be kept on for too long anyway, they aren't made for intense usage, Desktops are, and using a laptop for very long periods of time isn't safe for it. Also I am talking about basic laptops in general, some laptops are made to withstand long periods of time, most new laptops are. But it all depends on the computer itself, and the more you know about your computer, the better you can care for it.

- Hey I am also sooooo confuesed cause there are so many. I wanted to get an HP G60 but when I went and looked they too have so many different types of G60's and prices. You may want to go to their own website and check things out. I feel the off brands are just as good. So don't be sold on just a Dell or HP for example. I too am looking into others. Sorry I may not have answered, just my thoughts.

- Hi Josh, Lenovo laptops used to be IBM. They have a very good build quality for sure. Acer has also come a long way in the last 5 years and make excellent laptops. I just bought an Acer laptop after considering Lenovo, Dell, and others. The Acer TimelineX series gives more bang for the buck. I have a i5, with 500G 7200RPM drive, bluetooth, HD5450 video, 13.3 screen all for around $600 on sale dell/lenovo were a hundred bucks more or more at the time. I would say don't worry about the quality, both are good. Go for the laptop that has the features you want. Both laptops use chips from other manufacturers, Intel, AMD, nvidia, and the reliability and quality is mostly as good as the chipsets they use to build the laptops which over the years is continually getting better. I see lots of laptop issues mostly battery and charger problems resulting from abuse. Take care of your Lenovo or Acer and it will last a long time. Jeff
