A: Yes, we can do that.
- Q: Hello from SO TX.. I would like to know if anyone out there has SOLAR PANELS on their home?I have a 850 sq ft. house. I called Austin to a company that offers panels and installation. The cost $8,000.00, for 0 panels . The rep said we would save about 2 to 25% on our electric bill /mo. We use approximately 980 kw/mo. Our bill is around $40.00 / mo...I really don't think that's a good enough savings. We figure it would take 25 years to recoup our investment. And where we live in TX it does not offer any incentives. The gov. allows you a $2000.00 tx break.

Anatomy of a Solar Cell 5. Energy Loss in a Solar Cell 6. Solar-powering a House 7. Solving Solar-power Issues 8. Solar-power Pros and Cons 9. Lots More Information 0. See all Physical Science articles You've probably seen calculators that have solar cells -- calculators that never need batteries, and in some cases don't even have an off button. As long as you have enough light, they seem to work forever. You may have seen larger solar panels -- on emergency road signs or call boxes, on buoys, even in parking lots to power lights. Although these larger panels aren't as common as solar powered calculators, they're out there, and not that hard to spot if you know where to look. There are solar cell arrays on satellites, where they are used to power the electrical systems. You have probably also been hearing about the solar revolution for the last 20 years -- the idea that one day we will all use free electricity from the sun. This is a seductive promise: On a bright, sunny day, the sun shines approximately ,000 watts of energy per square meter of the planet's surface, and if we could collect all of that energy we could easily power our homes and offices for free.
- Q: i hav e a project for school we need to calculate cost to buy and install solar panels in our school
- It operates itself, except if there is a problem. It costs a lot to buy and setup. Some solar panels move to track the sun- the tracking equipment is complicated and needs maintenance. Some solar power systems have banks of batteries to store the energy- those wear out eventually. Some solar panels feed into the power grid, and there is a cost associated with managing that power- paid by the power company.
- Q: I'm part of the Sustainability group at school, the school principal is a d**k and doesn't care about the environment, he only cares about money.Me and the group will be talking in front of him and the school council (the people in-charge of the school's money) To convince them to put solar panels on the school roofs.I know that it definitely will help the school save on electricity bills, but it WILL cost a lot of money to put them in.In the end we just wanna reduce carbon emissions!HELP :)
- Show live examples such as those in Northern CA where the schools working with private industry funded a complete solar installation for a school district. Yes it can be done!
- Q: hi so im doing a school project thing and they have a lot of different questions for us that help us decide whether we would rather a city have a nuclear reactor, or solar panel. But i cant seem to get the last 2 questions...help please???so question ........What types of emissions, if any, are produced by each type of generating station? Do these emissions affect human health?question 2.....What are the long term financial costs associated with maintaining each type of generating station?thanks!
- You should research nuclear reactors and their emissions. Mostly it's waste heat, and if they use a water-based cooling reactor, there can be significant emissions of water vapor. Some might consider the spent fuel an emission too. Waste nuclear material disposal is a problem. Research it. Solar panels have no emissions during operation, but there is some nasty stuff emitted when they are manufactured. 2: Maintenance of solar panels is pretty straightforward: keep them clean, trim overhanging trees, shrubs, etc., check for and clean corrosion, contaminants, etc. regularly. Maintenance of nuclear power plants, so far, is a full time job for many technicians and engineers. The recently developed portable (the size of a shed) nuclear generators claim zero maintenance for 20+ years. That's a big improvement.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of salinity or brackish water?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of salinity or brackish water. However, it is important to consider the potential impact of corrosion on the panels and their components. Proper installation techniques, regular maintenance, and the use of corrosion-resistant materials can help mitigate the effects of salinity and brackish water on solar panel performance.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of wind-blown debris?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of wind-blown debris. However, it is important to choose durable and robust solar panels designed to withstand such conditions. Regular cleaning and maintenance might be required to ensure optimal performance and longevity in these environments.
- Q: Solar Panels not working very well, they have faded. Is there any paint or anything else I can do to restore them? Thanks Eileen
- Unfortunately Eileen the panels are bound to fade as its par for the course. Over time much like everything else (from an AC condenser to your knees and hips) everything starts to go south. When did you purchase and install your panels? If this was done within the past few years then something is definitely wrong, and you should have the manufacturer and installer come back and replace the panels....on their dime of course. Is the warranty on your panels still in effect? If so then its definitely something that they have to come back and take care of. There is a company I know of called Sun Electronics that has a 20 year warranty on their products, so if its worth anything you might want to buy your new panels/system from them. The panels around today are more efficient than those of years past, and with the cost coming down due to economies of scale and the tax incentives you might want to consider getting a new system. Sorry to let you down though Eileen!
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on agricultural or farming operations?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on agricultural or farming operations. In fact, many farmers and agricultural businesses are increasingly adopting solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution to power their operations. Solar panels can be mounted on rooftops, open land, or even on barns and sheds, providing clean and renewable energy to offset electricity costs and reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, solar panels can help farmers take advantage of unused or underutilized land, providing dual benefits of energy generation and agricultural productivity.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a theme park or tourist attraction?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a theme park or tourist attraction. Solar panels are a versatile and sustainable energy solution that can be implemented in various settings, including theme parks and tourist attractions. By harnessing solar energy, these establishments can reduce their carbon footprint, lower energy costs, and promote environmental stewardship. Additionally, solar panels can be integrated into the design of these attractions, enhancing their aesthetics and providing an educational opportunity for visitors to learn about renewable energy.
