5. What is Magnesium Alloys?
Magnesium alloys are mixtures of magnesium with other metals (called an alloy), often aluminum, zinc, manganese, silicon, copper, rare earths and zirconium. Magnesium is the lightest structural metal. Magnesium alloys have a hexagonal lattice structure, which affects the fundamental properties of these alloys. Plastic deformation of the hexagonal lattice is more complicated than in cubic latticed metals like aluminium, copper and steel; therefore, magnesium alloys are typically used as cast alloys, but research of wrought alloys has been more extensive since 2003. Cast magnesium alloys are used for many components of modern automobiles, and magnesium block engines have been used in some high-performance vehicles; die-cast magnesium is also used for camera bodies and components in lenses.
Practically, all the commercial magnesium alloys manufactured in the United States contain aluminum (3 to 13 percent) and manganese (0.1 to 0.4 percent). Many also contain zinc (0.5 to 3 percent) and some are hardenable by heat treatment. All the alloys may be used for more than one product form, but alloys AZ63 and AZ92 are most used for sand castings, AZ91 for die castings, and AZ92 generally employed for permanent mold castings (while AZ63 and A10 are sometimes also used in the latter application as well). For forgings, AZ61 is most used, and here alloy M1 is employed where low strength is required and AZ80 for highest strength. For extrusions, a wide range of shapes, bars, and tubes are made from M1 alloy where low strength suffices or where welding to M1 castings is planned. Alloys AZ31, AZ61 and AZ80 are employed for extrusions in the order named, where increase in strength justifies their increased relative costs.

- Q: And do metals, metalloids, and non-metals have something in common.
- Do you mean steel? Steel is an alloy consisting mostly of iron, with a carbon content between 0.2% and 2.14% by weight, depending on grade. Additionally, alloying elements are used such as manganese, chromium, vanadium, and tungsten. I can think of native metals that aren't rock, native copper comes to mind.
- Q: Whats the difference between Metal core, death core, grind core, death metal, doom metal, melodic death metal, black metal, stoner metal? ive listened to a few and they all kinda sound the same to me with a few exceptions. oh and also whats the difference between punk and hard core punk?
- I prefer some rap over metal I like Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco.
- Q: All metals and metalloids have luster. Metals are good conductors and metalloids are bad conductors. Metals are nonmalleable and metalloids are malleable.
- Thes oughtta give you a solid foundation towards being a good metal-head. Alternative Metal: 1. Faith No More 2. Korn 3. System of a Down Death Metal: 1. Death 2. Entombed 3. Morbid Angel New Wave Of British Heavy Metal: 1. Iron Maiden 2. Judas Priest 3. Motorhead Power Metal: 1. Helloween 2. Blind Guardian 3. Sonata Arctica Progressive Metal: 1. Dream Theater 2. Fates Warning 3. Queensryche Thrash Metal: 1. Megadeth 2. Metallica 3. Anthrax
- Q: How does the reactivity of a metal increase its value
- Well seeing as I have 182 Alternative/Black/Death/Doom/Folk/Gothic... Metal bands on my laptop, with at least one album each, the highest being Cradle Of Filth with 13 albums (unlucky), I'd say pretty awesome. I really hate it when people call my music screamo or when someone calls me emo, even though I'm actually a goth I heard someone at college refer to Enter Shikari as dubstep screamo. I nearly screamed at him myself. These are all of my genres/subgenres (not including Thrash, Death etc.) (The / are for bands that have 2 subgenres): Avant-Garde Metal, Battle Metal, Blackened Death Metal, Brutal Death Metal, Death/Doom Metal, Extreme Metal, Folk/Gothic Metal, Glam Metal, Gothic Black Metal, Industrial Black Metal, Melodic Black Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Progressive Death Metal, Progessive Death/Gothic Metal, Progressive Thrash Metal, Rap Metal, Sludge Metal, Speed Metal, Symphonic Black Metal, Tech Death Metal, and Thrash/Death Metal. Pretty long list, it would be even longer if I added all the artists. But as you can see, I have great respect for metal in general, there is so much more talent in metal than being able to scream. I have begun to refer to rap as talko, as it sounds like someone speaking into a microphone. It took 5 people, including himself, to write Justin Bieber's Baby, which consists of around four words being sung over and over again, which isn't hard. It took one person to write Megadeth's Holy Wars.. The Punishment Due. Unfortunately I cannot find the picture to show you this comparison. If I find it I will update this. Rant over :) \m//
- Q: They need to put in a metal section. I mean, they have Jazz, Rock, Rap, Country, ect. But no Metal. Metal might be a form of rock, but metal an rock are 2 different things. Who else agrees?
- Lich King, Skeletonwitch, Agalloch, Opeth, Lamb of God, Eluveitie, Wintersun, Black Dahlia Murder, Obscura, Necrophagist, Evile, that's about the best of the modern metal (in my opinion, of course). Then you have classic bands like Death Angel, Iron Maiden, Megadeth and Testament all making modern comebacks. I'm more of an old school metalhead, so I'm not the most informed in the new world of metal.
- Q: what are som great bands that are:heavy metaldeath metalthrash metal.....................................basiclly anthing metal
- Probably your harder new stuff would be New Metallica Korn Disturbed Element Eighty
- Q: ive never played any metal gear games, and i heard the metal gear series is amazing, should i get it? if yes which one in the series?
- 3 and 4 were both pretty meh. Black took the game back to its roots (and its orignal developer), and was basically like the first two games. Not quite as fun, but much less frustrating controls.
- Q: Death Metal, Thrash Metal... also can you give an example of each?
- Grunge, but I will say that nu-metal is extremely overhated. ''nu'' may mean new, but it's a note of the fusion of hip hop in it. Bands such as the Deftones are actually really good, so are System Of A Down (so kill me) and early day Korn. There is alot of creativity to be found in nu metal, but it's called an ugly and vulgar genre due to bands such as Limp Bizkit (whose music is ugly and vulgar) And nu metal does not replace standard/ traditional metal at all. It's a subgenre that's all, sure in the 90s nu metal was getting alot of attention, and perhaps the wrong or inaccurate bands, but a typical nu-metal hater would only see Korn's latest couple of albums, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and cast it off as a bad genre, when really, a genre can't be bad (except an argument could be made for crunckcore), but the bands in it.
- Q: What happened to the metal scene in the States? In Europe, S. America and other places great metal and it's various sub-genres is still being produced. Especially right now the symphonic/gothic/power metal sound in Scandinavia is especially strong. I've always been drawn to the epic sounds, intelligent lyrics, and musicianship found especially in thrash and progressive metal.

- Q: what are some examples of brittle metal? and is iron one? thannx :)
- Thrash maybe. Wait and Bleed is the only one I've hear by them. Hard to tell with so many of them.
