We've played around with several ideas (e.g. balloon stretched over the mouth of a water bottle full of water and suspended from the roof, and a closed plastic tube of water leading from a siphon, running along the roof). When we tried them, though, the water on the other side of the plastic / rubber stopped them from melting and the water just stayed put.
