- Q: Hello from SO TX.. I would like to know if anyone out there has SOLAR PANELS on their home?I have a 850 sq ft. house. I called Austin to a company that offers panels and installation. The cost $8,000.00, for 0 panels . The rep said we would save about 2 to 25% on our electric bill /mo. We use approximately 980 kw/mo. Our bill is around $40.00 / mo...I really don't think that's a good enough savings. We figure it would take 25 years to recoup our investment.And where we live in TX it does not offer any incentives. The gov. allows you a $2000.00 tx break.

- Efficiency of photovoltaic panels usually describes the ratio between the energy of the sunlight falling onto the panels and the electric energy you get out. This number is, for commercially available panels today, usually in the range of 2...9 %. What you are asking is something else. The power from the panel depends on the light falling on it. A panel rated for kw peak will deliver that kw under a clear sky, with the sun orthogonally above the panel. For a fixed mounted panel, that is true (at most) for two days every year at noon. At any other time, the output is less. Therefore (at least for the area I live in), some people build databases (and Excel tools) in which the various variables are considered: - inclination of the panel - orientation of the panel - average sunshine duration during a year Plugging in these numbers, I get theoretically for my roof an electricity output of just over 000 kWh/year per installed kWpeak of collector power. If you set up a tracking panel (following the sun), the energy output of the panel will be higher, but so will be the cost for the mounting and the area needed to set up the system.
- Q: my solar panel is 5v 50 mA, and im making iphone USB charger so i need to connect + with 00 ohm resister and to data - and + so what resister will be okay..?
- Just connect the 5 volts out of the panel directly to the iphone via an USB connector. BUT, is the panel output always 5 volts, ±0.25 volts? Because that is the USB specification, and anything outside of those values could damage your iphone. And solar panels are known for their wide swings in voltage. Bottom line, resistor not needed, and you need to be positive you supply the correct voltage to the iphone. Best way to do that is to start with a solar panel that puts out at least 7 volts and use a LM7805 regulator. The only resistors needed are those to tie the data lines into a certain combination of resistance and voltage so that the iphone is fooled into thinking that a proper USB is connected. That would NOT involve a 00 ohm resistor. Search online for the proper values and connections. edit: are you repeating your same inane question with a different account? That is totally against the rules and could get you suspended.

- There okorder / Why pay thousands of dollars for solar energy ($27,000 average cost) when you can build your own solar panel system for just a fraction of the retail cost. You can build a single solar panel or you can build an entire array of panels to power your whole house. Some people are saving 50% on their power bill, some people are reducing their bill to nothing. But what’s most impressive is that just by following these instructions some are even making the power company pay them!

Since green energy is the 'hottest' growing business area recently with usage growing about 30% per annum and investors putting all their money into solar energy, wind farms, biofuel, etc. I think when you sell solar systems online this will be the most appealing business model to the end customer...especially if you offer free installation on orders of say $000.
- Presently the technology is not there using green energy. Green energy is popular, but not as effecient as they claim. There is no product today whether it is electric cars, windmills, solar panels that have a lucrative payback. They all have their drawbacks. Your thinking is good, but the market and the techology just isn't there yet. If it were, you would see solar panels on every house. You already have the competition as you noted, and they aren't prospering... Good luck.
