- Q: I had shortlisted the Sony Ericsson T700 and G502 as the choices for my first mobile phone. I am pretty convenient at using mobile phones (as all my relatives have one) so using them is not a problem. My first pref is the T700 but as it is costlier and mostly has the same features as the cheaper G502 (except camera mp, menu layout and more RSS functions), I am thinking of going for the G502. However, I have read that the G502's build quality is poor and it hangs and restarts and similar sort of things. Also some people say that the colour starts coming off after a few months. Is that a cause for worry?I know that firmware needs to be updated regularly so, if I maintain it well, are there chances of problems creeping up? I would also like to know from G502 users if they liked it or if they had some specific problems with it? In the end, should I wait for the T700's price to drop or should I go for the G502?Thanx for reading.
- I've had one for about a couple of months now and had no problems with it. I was just after a low cost phone that would allow me to check emails, get weather reports, connect to messenger, etc. The screen is a little small but I can read my mail using Google's excellent mobile mail app. I haven't tried to write an email with it yet. Build quality is good and I haven't had any problems with it hanging, although a couple of websites that I was viewing with the built in browser have caused it to restart. Can't comment on the paint coming off yet. I think the screen would be easily scratched so I try to avoid putting it in the same pocket as keys, coins, etc. and I'm looking for some sort of cover to protect it. Overall, it does the job for me and I've been pleased with it in the first couple of months I've had it. Best regards,
- Q: If a aircraft forms a faraday cage (I'm thinking the pressurized comair types) then how would a mobile phone effect a external signal? Or does a comair form a faraday cage (im thinking now of everyone who immediately busts out their mobile as the flights lands,,,)??Essentially what avionics package does a mobile operating 800/900/1800/1900 (and whatever other common rf mobiles use) interfere with?
- Jet Doc is correct, the cell phone restriction is an FCC regulation - cell phones are licensed for ground usage. Cell phones operate on line of site, and once airborne your phone can see and connect to hundreds of towers at once, not the 2 or 3 connections the network was designed for. The restriction dates back to to time when cell phones were not as common, and the network not as capable. The FCC considered removing the ban, but most of the public comment was in favor of continuing the ban. It turns out no one wants to be forced to listen to the stranger in the next seat run their yap . The current ban is more an enforced courtesy than a technical requirement. The FAA does ban all electronics during take off and landing, and cellphones have very limited service in cruise, as the altitude is typically greater than the range of the phone. Even if FCC ban is lifted, there would only be a limited time in the flight were they could be used

- My boyfriend and I both have T-Mobile. He has the blast and I had the Nokia 5310 (i recently upgraded to the G1.) The blast is an ok phone. The battery life is not anything amazing but it is ok. I really liked my Nokia 5310. It was compact, had a great music player and it had a long battery life. I know its not a slider phone but you should really check it out. They also have them on sale for $50, just at your budget!

- it depends how long the phone has been out on the market, those that have been out a while can be for free when the more new versions or brand new phones -- you would have to pay full price for it unless you upgrade your contract then they give you a discount or mail in rebate
